These days, at WOW, Milan's cartoon museum, is held an exhibition dedicated to Tolkien and his works. I liked it a lot, in my opinion it was absolutely worth it.
In addition to well made explanatory signs, the exhibition contained editions in all languages of Tolkien's books, and a large amount of gadgets and artwork associated with them, including many originals.
It's an exibition that wants to be exhaustive, but doesn't make the mistake of taking itself too seriously, which shows through little touches like a statue of Gollum with the "do not steal Gollum's treasssure" with the recorded voice of Gollum which activates by pulling the cord with the Ring.

Because of the topic, there is really everything from tacky to artistically excellent works. Above you can see the original illustrations made by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, a great lover of Tolkien's works, and just below a table of an unauthorized comic adaptation by the Bulgarian artist Sotir Gelev (the giant frog is the barlog, the Assyrian-Babylonian King is Gandalf and I suppose that Mr. Spock is Aragorn).

My favorite painting of the exhibition, created by the German artist Jay Johnstone.

@Pepperoni: sorry for the bad news, the exibition will be dismantled next monday :(

@Marco: ma povero!

This is so amazing. I love all the different book covers (did they have the Tove Jansson ones?)! :D

Also, those ink drawings...they look official, she is seriously talented... :O

@Rihannon: yes they did :D I hoped in Tove Jansson prints too, but there was only the gollum one if I remember well.
Do you imagine having the power and money to make people look at your art AND being skilled? A real dream!
