Dinosauro offline, cavalli a dondolo, pizzo e conigli/Offline dinosaur, rocking horse, lace and bunnies

Anche questo mese non ho creato tantissimo, ma un po' più dei precedenti.

A San Valentino ho stampato per mio marito (che fa il programmatore) una felpa con il dinosauro che compare quando Google va offline.

Ne sono molto fiera e progetto di farmi qualcosa con lo stesso stencil.

This month I didn't create a lot again, but still a little more than on the previous ones.

On Valentine's Day, I printed a sweatshirt for my husband (who is a developer) with the dinosaur that appears when Google goes offline.

I am very proud of it and I plan to do something for myself with the same stencil.

Ho anche usato dei ciondoli a forma di cavallo a dondolo e delle perle di vetro colorate per farmi degli orecchini.

I also used rocking horse pendants and colored glass beads to make a pair of earrings.

 Ho trovato il tempo per fare un tot di lavoretti di cucito di cui avevo bisogno, fra cui riparare buchi e accorciare pantaloni. In tutto questo sono anche riuscita ad allungare un vestito rosa con i coniglietti che non mettevo quasi mai perché era troppo corto, usando una striscia di pizzo bianco (per fortuna resa coerente dai particolari di colletto e bottoni).

I found the time to do a few sewing jobs I needed, including repairing holes and shortening trousers. In all this I also managed to lengthen a pink dress with bunnies that I almost never wore because it was too short, using a strip of white lace (that fortunately matched with the details of the collar and the buttons).

Orli che si accorciano/Shortening hems

Ho finalmente trovato il tempo di riprendere in mano ago e filo. Ancora una volta ho deciso di accorciare vestiti che non mi convincevano più.

Ho cominciato da questi pantaloni di velluto rosa, che mi stavano perfettamente nella parte alta e cadevano male in quella bassa. Li ho trasformati in pantaloncini, sperando di usarli di più.

I finally found the time to pick up again needle and thread. Once again I decided to shorten clothes that no longer convinced me.

I started with these pink velvet pants, which fit perfectly in the upper part and badly in the lower one. I turned them into shorts, hoping to use them more.

Ho accorciato anche un vestito marrone a pois bianchi e bottoni sul davanti. Ultimamente non sto più mettendo vestiti lunghi e sto accorciando tutti i miei preferiti.

I also shortened a brown dress with white polka dots and buttons on the front. Lately I'm not wearing long clothes anymore and I'm shortening all my favorites.

Tre magliette: cielo, lime e boro/Three t-shirts: sky, lime and boro

Ho fatto dei nuovi timbri per stampare su una delle magliette prese alla Lidl, un aquilone e una mongolfiera che ho usato in combinazione con quello a forma di nuvola che avevo fatto tempo fa.

Ho stampato in bianco sulla maglietta verde polvere.

I made new stamps to print on one of Lidl's t-shirts, a kite and a balloon that I used together with with the cloud-shaped one I made some time ago.
I printed in white on the dust green t-shirt.

Ho anche fatto uno stencil per stampare sulla maglietta bianca della Lidl un lime con il verde acido della Textil che mi ha regalato la mia amica Bi. Ho tamponato il colore con una spugnetta per rendere l'effetto butterato della buccia.
Ho aggiunto la scritta "lime" collaudando il pennarello nero della Rayher che però ha sbavato. Vi è mai capitato di rovinare un lavoro proprio all'ultimo? Irritante, vero? Ho tentato di salvare la situazione ripassando un lato della scritta a ricamo con un filo verde acido.

I also made a stencil to print Lidl's white t-shirt with Textile acid green that my friend Bi gave me. I dabbed the color with a sponge to get a peel effect.
I added the word "lime" trying Rayher black marker that however bleed. Has it ever happened to you to ruin a work right at the last moment? Irritating, isn't it? I tried to save the situation by tracing one side of the world embroidering with an acid green thread.

Ho anche sistemato lo scollo orribile di una maglietta di Decathlon presa durante uno swap party per via del disegno. Per renderlo accettabile è bastato ampliarlo, ma influenzata dal post di Edelberry sul boro (uno stile di ricamo/rattoppo) giapponese, ho deciso di orlare il nuovo scollo con una filza visibile dello stesso azzurro chiaro del disegno, eseguita con filo da ricamo.

I also fixed the horrible neck of a Decathlon T-shirt I took during a swap party because of the print. To make it acceptable it was enough to enlarge it, but, influenced by Edelberry's post about Japanese boro (a style of embroidery/patching), I decided to hem the new neckline with visible stitches of the same light blue of the print, made with embroidery thread.

Just another lemon tee

Colpita da una maglietta stampata a limoni che avevo visto da Oviesse, ho deciso di realizzare la mia versione. Per dimostrare che avrei potuto farla quasi a costo zero, ho deciso di fabbricare anche la maglietta, usando una stoffa bianca un po' grezza che avevo in casa. L'ho fatta con lo stesso metodo che avevo usato per la maglietta con le balene, ovvero ricalcare sulla stoffa una maglietta della forma desiderata piegata in due. Questa tecnica è molto semplice, ma non è l'ideale per le maniche, quindi è meglio farle molto corte e usare una stoffa leggera, in modo che si adattino meglio alle braccia.

Striken by a lemon printed T-shirt I saw at Oviesse, I decided to create my own version. To prove that I could make it almost for free, I decided to also sew the T-shirt, using a white cloth (a little rough) I had at home. I made it with the same method I used for the whales T-shirt, that consists in tracing on the fabric a shirt of the desired shape folded in half. This technique is very simple, but it is not ideal for the sleeves, so you better make them very short and use a soft fabric, so that they fit the arms better.

Una volta tagliata la maglietta base, l'ho orlata e poi l'ho stampata usando i timbri a limone intero e limone tagliato che avevo fatto tempo fa. Ho usato il giallo 020 della Textil che mi aveva regalato per il compleanno la mia amica Bi, mischiato con un goccino di rosso.

After I cut the basic t-shirt, I hemmed it and then I printed it using the whole lemon and cut lemon stamps I made some time ago. I used the yellow n°020 by Textil that my friend Bi gave me for my birthday, mixed with a drop of red.

Ho completato il tutto con un giro di orlo bianco con i pon pon sullo scollo (che mi è servito anche a nascondere l'orlo bruttino che avevo fatto).

I completed it all with with white pompom trim on the neckline (which were also useful to hide the ugly hem I made).

Dopo un paio di anni senza metterlo e senza volerlo dare via, mi sono finalmente decisa a tagliare il mio vestito vintage a quadretti preso anni fa al mercato di Papiniano. Per renderlo più "moderno" (diciamo meno "La casa nella prateria" e più anni '50) ho tagliato la gonna sotto l'ultimo bottone e ho accorciato di due terzi anche le maniche. Mi sono dimenticata di fare le foto del prima, quindi ve ne allego due vecchissime.

Sono riuscita a completare la modifica in tempo per mettere il vestito a San Valentino e ne sono molto soddisfatta. Spero proprio di ricominciare a metterlo.

After a couple of years without wearing it and without wanting to give it away, I finally decided to cut the vintage gingham dress I bought years ago at the market. To make it more "modern" (Less 'Little House on the Prairie " and more 50s) I cut it under the last button, and I shortened the sleeves of two thirds too. I forgot to take pictures of the before, so here are two very old ones.

I managed to complete the alteration in time to wear the dress on Valentine's Day, and I am very satisfied. I hope to start to wear it regularly.

Moon and stars dress

Da un sacco di tempo volevo un vestito blu da decorare con un motivo di luna e stelle, sul modello di quello di Edelberry.

Quando ho trovato questo vestito di Terranova usato al mercato ho capito che era quello giusto. Si trattava solo di decidere il metodo da seguire. Avevo pensato sia a ricamarlo come Edelberry, mettendoci tantissimo tempo, sia ai timbri, veloci, ma meno d'effetto.

Alla fine mi sono decisa a intraprendere la dura strada del ricamo, quando, cercando i fili giusti, mi sono imbattuta in un pacchetto di bottoni a forma di stella comprati per 1€ in un negozio cinese di Girona. Ho capito di avere trovato una soluzione veloce e d'effetto.

Since a long time I wanted a blue dress to decorate with a pattern of moon and stars, on the model of Edelberry's.

When I found this Terranova used dress at the market I realized it was the right one. I only had to decide which method to follow. I thought about embroidering it like Edelberry, putting a lot of time into it, or about stamping on it, a faster, but less effective method.

In the end I choose the difficult road of embroidery, when, looking for the right strings, I came across the pack of star-shaped buttons I bought for 1€ in a chinese shop in Girona. I realized I found a fast and effective solution.

Ai bottoni catalani ho accostato un bellissimo bottone vintage a foglioline, comprato ad un mercatino dell'antiquariato a Pietra Ligure, per fare la luna.

With the catalan buttons I paired, as the moon, a beautiful vintage button with a leaves relief that I bought at a flea market in Pietra Ligure.

Ho tenuto in alto i bottoni più chiari per dare un'impressione di cielo più tradizionale, mentre sul bordo inferiore ho usato anche quelli più colorati, in modo da creare uno stacco con i collant.

Finalmente ho ritrovato un po' di creatività dopo il blocco invernale!

I sewed the lighter buttons at the top to give a more traditional impression of the sky, while on the lower part Ialso used the more colorful one, to create some contrast with the tights.

I finally found a bit of creativity after the winter block!

Sono riuscita a sistemare elastico e cerniera di questa gonna di Promod e sono già innamorata! Oltre ad avere una stampa bellissima è comoda, ha le tasche ed è della lunghezza giusta.

I managed to fix the elastic and the zipper of this Promod skirt and I'm already in love! Besides having a beautiful print, it is comfortable, has pockets and it is of the right length.

Alla fine ho scelto la terza e più versatile opzione, ovvero fare una gonna corta con la parte superiore, e con la parte inferiore un top corto.

In the end I chose the third and most versatile option, that was make a short skirt with the upper part, and a short top with the bottom.

Ho tagliato la parte superiore della lunghezza delle maniche e ho fatto una gonna seguendo lo stesso procedimento che ho usato in questo post.

I cut the top part at the length of the sleeves and I made a skirt following the same method I used in this post.

Ho tagliato i lati della parte avanzata perché risultasse un top della giusta larghezza del mio torace. Poi ho aggiunto un bottone (a forma di stella!) e fatto due asole.

I cut the sides of the leftover part to make it the right width for my chest. After this I added a (star shaped!) button and made two buttonholes.

Ho deciso di tenere la parte arrotondata verso l'alto e usare i ritagli per fare delle spalline e trasformarlo in una canottiera lunga fino alla vita, la lunghezza perfetta.

I decided to keep the rounded side up and use the trimmings to make straps and turn it into a waist long tank top, exactly the lenght I wanted.

Ed ecco il risultato finale! Forse aggiusterò ancora un pochino la larghezza del top, ma in linea di massima sono davvero soddisfatta!

And here is the final result! Maybe I'll work on the top's width a bit more, bit in general I'm really happy with how it turned out!

Una camicia, tre idee/A shirt, three ideas

Oggi vi chiedo di nuovo aiuto: ho tantissima voglia di riadattare questa camicia a righe che ho trovato al mercato, ma non riesco a decidere fra tre idee che mi sono venute.

Today I'll ask for your help again: I really want to alter this striped shirt I found at the market, but I can not decide between three ideas I got.

1) Lasciarla così, accorciando solo le maniche, e metterla con una cintura. Funzionale, ma forse un po'sciatto... peraltro non metto molto le camicie lunghe.

1) Leave it as it is, only shortening the sleeves, and wear it with a belt. Functional, but perhaps a bit slobby... plus I don't wear long shirts so much.

2) inserire un elastico interno e tagliarla all'altezza della pancia per creare un oblò e avere una vestibilità maggiore, sul modello del vestito nella foto sopra (io però terrei le maniche limitandomi ad accorciarle parecchio).

Però l'oblò renderebbe il vestito inadatto ad una serie di occasioni e soprattutto di climi e ho paura che la gonna venga un po' corta.

2) insert an inner elastic and do an orizontal cut on the belly to create a cutout and have a better fit, on the model of the dress in the picture above (though I would keep the sleeves only shortening them a lot).

But the cutout would make the dress is inappropriate for a number of occasions, and especially of weathers and I'm afraid that the skirt may result a bit too short.

3) Fare una gonna corta (avrebbe la lunghezza delle maniche) come ho fatto qui, e con la parte inferiore che avanza fare un top corto. Questa terza opzione sarebbe la più versatile a livello di abbinamenti e tempo atmosferico. La maggiore controindicazione è che non so quanta stoffa mi avanzerebbe per fare il top, quindi rischierei di farlo cortissimo o di dover fare un patchwork non indifferente.

Voi quale delle tre opzioni preferite o pensate sia più sensata?

3) Make a short skirt (it would be long as the sleeves) like I did here, and make a short top with the letover bottom. This third option would be the most versatile in terms of cooordinates and weather. The major downside is that I don't know how much fabric would be left to make the top, so I risk making a very short one or having to make a difficult patchwork.

Which of the three options do you prefer or think is the most sensible?

Da camicia a gonna 3/From shirt to skirt 3

Ultimamente ho un debole per le gonne estive a righe. In particolare mi sono innamorata di questa bianca e grigia. Di per sé non sarebbe difficilissima da riprodurre, il problema è più che altro trovare la stoffa giusta.

Lately, I have a soft spot for striped summer skirts. In particular, I fell in love with this white and gray one. By itself it would't be difficult to reproduce, the problem is finding the right fabric.

Piuttosto che andare al negozio di stoffe a spendere un patrimonio, ho deciso di provare a ricavarla da una camicia, che è facile da trovare a righe e che offre il vantaggio di avere la parte dei bottoni già fatta.

Ne ho trovata facilmente una usata al mercato per 1€, infinitamente meno di quel che avrei speso comprando la stoffa. Visto che avevo intenzione di farci una gonna, ho controllato bene che non fosse trasparente né troppo rigida.

Rather than going to the fabric store and spending a fortune, I decided to try to get it from a shirt, which is easy to find striped and which offers the advantage of having the part of the buttons already made.

I easily found an used one at the market for 1€, infinitely less than what I would have spent buying the fabric. Since I was going to make a skirt, I checked for one that wasn't transparent nor too stiff.

Ho seguito lo stesso procedimento che avevo già usato per ricavare una gonna asimmetrica da una camicia tropicale a maniche corte, ovvero ho tagliato le cuciture che corrono lungo tutto il lato della camicia e la parte inferiore delle maniche fino al polsino (che ho tagliato via).

In questo modo ho ottenuto un risultato più largo e confortevole perché la parte delle maniche si è aperta creando una gonna molto più ampia sia in fondo sia sui fianchi. A questo punto ho cucito i due lati aperti di quelle che erano le maniche ognuno al lato aperto più vicino del busto della camicia. Poi ho orlato la parte da cui avevo tagliato via i polsini, badando che risultasse allineata con la cucitura inferiore della parte del busto.

Visto che questa volta ho usato una camicia a maniche lunghe, la parte delle maniche e quella del busto erano della stessa lunghezza e quindi ho ottenuto una gonna dall'orlo dritto.

I followed the same procedure that I already used to make an asymmetrical skirt from a tropical short-sleeved shirt, that is: I cut the seams that run down the side of the shirt and the bottom of the sleeves to the cuff (which I cut off) .

In this way I got a wider and more comfortable result because the part of the sleeves opened creating a skirt much wider at the bottom and on the hips. At this point I sewed the two open sides of what were the sleeves to the nearest open side of the shirt's bust. Then I hemmed the part from which I cut off the cuffs, taking care that it was aligned with the bottom seam of the bust part.

Since this time I used a long-sleeved shirt, the part of the sleeves and the bust were of the same length so I got a straight hemmed skirt.

Indossata, la gonna calzava ancora un po' strana per via delle cuciture delle spalle, che facevano una strana piega e perché dovevo lasciare aperti due bottoni per avere spazio per la vita.

Così ho tagliato via il colletto ed espanso lo spazio per la vita lungo le cuciture delle spalle, eliminando in gran parte il difetto e migliorando moltissimo la vestibilità. Ho fatto l'orlo e la gonna era finita.

Si tratta di una gonna nata da una camicia, quindi ha comunque delle cuciture un po' particolari (che si possono in parte regolarizzare tramite qualche cucitura accorta dall'interno), ma a me piace moltissimo.

Once worn, the skirt was still a little strange because of the shoulder seams, which made a strange fold and because I had to leave two buttons open to have the room for the waist.

So I cut off the collar and expanded the space for the waist along the shoulder seams, eliminating much of the problem, and improving the fit a lot. I hemmed it and the skirt was done.

It is a skirt made from a shirt, so it still have some particular seams (which may be fixed in part through some stitching from the inside), but I love it.

From long to short dress: light blue

Ho di nuovo accorciato un vestito sperando di metterlo di più. Normalmente l'avrei dato via, visto che l'ho indossato davvero poco, ma ho voluto provare a salvarlo perché è fatto di una stoffa stupenda a piccoli motivi tono su tono e mi piacciono moltissimo anche i bottoni di legno e il colore. Visto che non metto quasi più le gonne lunghe ho pensato fosse una buona idea accorciarlo fino alla lunghezza che uso di più.

I shortened again a dress hoping to wear it more. Normally I would have given it away, since I have worn it very little, but I wanted to try to save it because it is made of a beautiful fabric with small tone on tone patterns, and I also like the wooden buttons and color very much. Since I seldom use long skirts I thought was a good idea to shorten it to the length I use most.

Vestito --> Gonna con sottoveste/Dress --> Skirt with underskirt

In montagna ho avuto un po' di tempo per la creatività. Ho modificato di nuovo il vestito bianco con la stampa timbrata a lupi, che a sua volta avevo ricavato da una gonna.

In the mountains I had some time for crafting. I altered again the white dress with the stamped wolves pattern, which I made from a skirt.

Visto che non lo mettevo quasi mai, ho deciso di ricavarne una gonna midi. Ho iniziato rimuovendo bottoni e spalline. Uno dei motivi per cui non mettevo il vestito era perché era molto trasparente, quindi invece di tagliare la parte superiore ho deciso di piegarla all'interno per farne una sottoveste.

Since I hardly ever wore it, I decided to turn it in a midi skirt. I started by removing the buttons and straps. One of the reasons I didn't wore the dress was because it was a bit see through, so instead of cutting the top I decided to fold it inside to make an underskirt.

La cima del vestito era più stretta della nuova vita, e questo avrebbe potuto creare difficoltà a camminare stringendo le ginocchia, ma per fortuna il problema è stato risolto dallo spacco dove prima c'erano i bottoni.
Ho cucito le due parti di vestito sovrapposte, lasciando uno spazio per inserire l'elastico.
Il risultato mi piace molto e spero che sia più versatile.

The top of the dress was narrower than the new waist, and this could create difficulty walking as it clutches the knees, but fortunately the problem was solved by the slit where there were the buttons before.
I sewed the two overlapping dress parts, leaving a space to insert the elastic.
I like the result very much and I hope it will be more versatile.

Svecchiare il vintage/Making vintage feel more modern

A volte nei negozi e sulle bancarelle dell'usato si trovano capi molto belli ma con un taglio decisamente "vecchio". Però spesso basta poco per renderli più attuali.

Anche in questo post, come ho già fatto con il vestito con le margherite, quello di velluto e la giacca a fiori, vi mostro come ho svecchiato due capi, una maxi maglietta passatami da mia madre e una gonna comprata in un negozio dell'usato in Giappone. Mi sono limitata ad accorciare le maniche e allargare lo scollo della maglietta e ad accorciare la gonna, ma il risultato è notevole. Sono passati da capi che non metto mai a capi che metto spesso.

Penso che se continuo a non metterlo finirò per tagliare anche il mio bellissimo vestito vintage a quadretti.

Sometimes in the shops and on flea market stalls can be found clothes that are beautiful but have a decidedly "old" cut. But often it takes little to make them more modern.

In this post, as I did with the daisies dress, the velvet one, and the floral jacket, I'll show you how I rejuvenate two pieces of clothing, a maxi t-shirt handed me down by my mother and a skirt bought at a thrift store in Japan. I only shortened the sleeves and expand the neckline of the T-shirt and shortened the skirt, but the result is remarkable. From clothes I never wore they became clothes I wear often.

If I go on not wearing it, I think I'll cut even my beautiful gingham vintage dress.
