"22.11.63" (in originale "11.22.63") è una serie televisiva statunitense del 2016 basata sul romanzo del 2011 "22/11/'63" di Stephen King. I produttori esecutivi sono J. J. Abrams, Stephen King, Bridget Carpenter e Bryan Burk.
E' composta da 8 episodi da circa 55 minuti ciascuno.
La storia è la stessa del romanzo: Jake Edding, un professore di lettere, scopre che Al, il gestore della sua tavola calda preferita, nasconde un segreto. Infatti nella sua dispensa c'è un passaggio che riporta chiunque lo attraversi indietro nel tempo, sempre alla stessa data e ora, nel 1960. Al rivela al protagonista di essere gravemente malato e lo prega di compiere al suo posto la missione che si era prefisso: impedire l'assassinio del presidente Kennedy, avvenuto il 22 Novembre 1963.
Nonostante a grandi linee la trama coincida, ci sono varie differenze. Le più significative sono il numero di viaggi nel tempo e il personaggio di Bill Turcotte, che è marginale nel libro e rilevantissimo nella serie. Il resto delle discrepanze è meno rilevante e non le elencherò per non fare spoiler a chi non avesse letto il libro.
Il livello della serie è in generale molto buono. Le ambientazioni degli anni '60 sono molto belle, dominate da luminosi colori pastello. Sul finale invece ho trovato che si potesse caratterizzare meglio il paesaggio invece di giocare con la saturazione.
Per quanto riguarda la recitazione ho trovato migliore quella dei personaggi secondari (del calibro di Chris Cooper e di George MacKay) rispetto a quella  del protagonista, interpretato James Franco, che mi è sembrata un po' povera: l'attore ha un faccino molto carino e adatto alla parte, ma solo due espressioni: felice e afflitta. Sarah Gadon, che interpreta la protagonista femminile, è brava e bellissima.
Ho adorato il libro (trovate la mia recensione qui), quindi sono partita con un forte condizionamento. Non ho avuto problemi con i cambiamenti nella trama, tranne per quanto riguarda il personaggio di Bill, che non ho trovato gestito benissimo. Per il resto l'ho trovata una buona serie, piacevole e ben fatta (ma comunque inferiore al romanzo).
La consiglio senz'altro, soprattutto a chi non avesse letto "22.11.63", perché la trama è davvero interessante e coinvolgente su molti livelli: gli appassionati di storia ameranno le ambientazioni, quelli di fantascienza i viaggi nel tempo, quelli di fantastoria le storie alternative che si creano modificando il passato, i romanticoni le storie d'amore, gli amanti dell'azione gli scontri e così via. Ce n'è per tutti.
Ma poi recuperate anche il romanzo, ne vale la pena!

"22.11.63" is a 2016 U.S.A television series based on the 2011 novel "22/11 / '63" by Stephen King. The executive producers are J. J. Abrams, Stephen King, Bridget Carpenter and Bryan Burk.
It consists of 8 episodes of around 55 minutes each.
The story is the same of the novel: Jake Edding, a literature teacher, discovers that Al, the manager of his favorite diner, hides a secret. In fact in his pantry there is a passage that brings who step through it back in time, always at the same date and time, in 1960. Al reveals to the protagonist he seriously ill and askd him to take his place in the mission he had set : to prevent the assassination of President Kennedy, which took place on the 22th of November, 1963.
Although roughly the plot coincides, there are several differences. The most significant are the number of time travel and the character of Bill Turcotte, which is marginal in the book and very relevant in the series. The rest of the discrepancies is less relevant and I won't list them to avoid spoilers to the people who didn't read the book.
The level of the series is generally high. The 60's locations are great, dominated by bright pastel colours. On the ending instead I tought that the landscape could have been characterized better instead of playing with the saturation.
As for the acting, I found that of the secondary characters (such as Chris likes Cooper and George MacKay) better than that of the protagonist, played by James Franco, that seemed a bit poor: the actor has a face that is quite handsome and suitable for the part, but has only two expressions: happy and troubled. Sarah Gadon, who plays the female lead, is a good and beautiful actress.
I loved the book (you can find my review here), so I started with a strong conditioning. I had no problems with the changes in the plot, except for the character of Bill, that in my opinion could have been managed better. For the rest I found it a good, pleasant and well done series (but still worse than the novel).
I definitely recommend it, especially to the people who didn't read "11/22/63", because the plot is really interesting and engaging on many levels: history buffs will love the environments, sci-fi buff will love the time travel, alternate history ones will love the differences in history created by alterating the past, romantics will get engaged by the love stories, action lovers by the fights and so on. There's something for everyone.
But after watching it please read the novel, it's worth it!

Il miglio verde/The green mile

Il miglio verde è un romanzo di Stephen King pubblicato in 6 puntate nel 1996 con l'idea di emulare i romanzi a puntate del 1800, specialmente quelli di Charles Dickens.

Il narratore è l'ex capo delle guardie del braccio della morte della prigione di Cold Mountain. La vicenda si svolge negli anni '30. Il punto di partenza della vicenda è l'arrivo di un nuovo prigioniero, un enorme nero di nome John Coffey, accusato di aver violentato e ucciso due bambine. Coffey sembra essere lento di mente, ma pare che in lui ci sia più di quanto appare. Oltre all'ultimo condannato a morte, conosciamo anche altri personaggi: Streambot Wille, poi ribattezzato Signor Jingles, un topo geniale (di cui mi sono innamorata) e le altre guardie e gli altri condannati della prigione. La vicenda si sviluppa diventando sempre più misterioso e intrigante.

Io l'ho trovato meraviglioso, è stato uno dei pochi libri degli ultimi anni che non riuscivo a smettere di leggere.

E' anche uno dei più celebri dell'autore, anche per via della trasposizione cinematografica del 1999, diretta da Frank Darabont. Io l'ho vista anni fa (purtroppo rovinandomi i colpi di scena del libro) e l'ho trovata molto bella e molto fedele.

The Green Mile is a novel by Stephen King published in six episodes in 1996 with the idea of emulating the serials of the 1800s, especially those by Charles Dickens. 

The narrator is the former captain of the guard of the prison's death row at Cold Mountain. The story takes place in the '30s. The starting point of the story is the arrival of a new prisoner, a huge black man named John Coffey, who is accused of raping and murdering two little girls. Coffey seems to be slow in mind, but it seems that there is more to him than it appears. In addiction to the last condemned to death, we also get to know the other characters: Streambot Wille, later renamed Mr. Jingles, a genius mouse (I fell in love with him) and the other guards and the other prisoners of the prison. The story develops becoming more and more mysterious and intriguing. 

I found it wonderful, it was one of the few books that I could not stop reading in recent years.

It's also one of the most celebrated by the author, also because of the 1999 film adaptation, directed by Frank Darabont. I saw it years ago (unfortunately spoiling myself the twists and turns of the book) and I found it beautiful and very loyal to the original.

Cuori in Atlantide/Hearts in Atlantis (Stephen King)

"Cuori in Atlantide" è una raccolta di cinque racconti di Stephen King, collegati da una serie di personaggi ricorrenti e posti in ordine cronologico. E' stata pubblicata nel 1999 e il primo e l'ultimo racconto hanno ispirato l'omonimo film del 2001.
"Uomini bassi in soprabito giallo" è il primo racconto, il più lungo e secondo me anche il più bello. Il suo difetto è che è fortemente collegata con la saga di King La Torre Nera. Si può capire anche senza averla letta, ma è un peccato. In più gli elementi soprannaturali la differenziano dal resto delle storie del libro, rendendo il collegamento più labile.
"Cuori in Atlantide" è un racconto ambientato  negli anni sessanta,nell'università frequentata a suo tempo da King. Sullo sfondo della guerra con il Vietnam, un gruppo di ragazzi è ossessionato dal gioco di carte Cuori. E' ben scritto e l'idea è bella, ma i personaggi principali sono sgradevoli in un modo che mi ha reso fastidiosa la lettura.
"Willie il cieco" racconta la storia di un reduce del Vietnam. Era già stato incluso nella raccolta "Six Stories", ma King l'ha modificato per questo libro. Mi è piaciuto moltissimo, ma resta un po'in sospeso.
"Perché siamo finiti in Vietnam" è la storia di un altro reduce del Vietnam. Anche qui l'idea e soprattutto il finale sono buoni, ma anche qui il protagonista mi ha dato fastidio.
"Scendono le celesti ombre della notte" è evidentemente un racconto aggiunto a posteriori per dare coesione alla raccolta. Infatti tira le fila di tutte le trame lasciate in sospeso in precedenza (e secondo me è un buon finale), ma letto da solo non ha senso.
In definitiva "Cuori in Atlantide" non mi è dispiaciuto, l'ho trovato un buon ritratto di un'epoca formato da una serie di buone storie, ma non mi è piaciuto né mi ha entusiasmato come altri libri dello stesso autore.

"Low Men in Yellow Coats" is the first story , the longest and in my opinion also the better. Its shortcoming is that it is strongly connected with the saga of  The Dark Tower by King. You can understand it even without having read it, but it's a shame. In addition, the supernatural elements differentiate it from the rest of the stories in the book, making the link lighter.
"Hearts in Atlantis" is a story set in the sixties, in the university attended at the time by King. Against the backdrop of the war with Vietnam, a group of boys is obsessed with the card game Hearts. It's well-written and the idea is nice, but the main characters are unpleasant in a way that made ​​me uncomfortable reading it.
"Blind Willie" tells the story of a Vietnam veteran. It has already been included in the collection "Six Stories", but King has changed it for this book. I loved it, but it remains suspended.
"Why we're in Vietnam" is the story of another Vietnam veteran. The idea and the final are especially good, but here the protagonist bothered me too.
"Heavenly Shades of Night are Falling" is clearly a story added later to give cohesion to the collection. In fact it pulls the strings of all the earlier plots (and I think it's a good ending), but read alone it does not make much sense.
Ultimately I didn't find " Hearts in Atlantis" bad, I think it is a good portrait of an era formed by a series of good stories, but I did not like it neither did it impress me as other books by the same author.

11/22/63 è un romanzo di Stephen King scritto nel 2011. King a me piace molto, nonostante sforni bestseller a raffica, ho trovato tutti i suoi libri che ho letto di buona qualità. Questo però mi ha colpito come uno dei migliori e mi ha preso così tanto che ho paura di non riuscire a dare un giudizio del tutto obiettivo.

La trama: Jake Edding, un professore di lettere, scopre che Al, il gestore della sua tavola calda preferita, nasconde un segreto. Infatti nella sua dispensa c'è un passaggio che riporta chiunque lo attraversa alla stessa data e ora, le 11:50 del 9 Settembre 1958. Al rivela al protagonista di essere gravemente malato e lo prega di compiere al suo posto la missione che si era prefisso: impedire l'assassinio del presidente Kennedy, avvenuto il 22 Novembre 1963.

Non voglio dirvi di più e vi sconsiglio di leggere riassunti più completi (vi avverto, quello di Wikipedia è uno spoiler dietro l'altro), vi togliereste solo il piacere della lettura. E la lettura è davvero piacevole! I personaggi di King sono sempre estremamente umani e credibili, la ricostruzione della vita a fine anni '50 negli Stati Uniti è fenomenale, si possono quasi sentire gli odori e i sapori, e la dinamica dei viaggi nel tempo con le sue regole da sola basterebbe a creare una serie di colpi di scena mozzafiato.

Visto che parliamo di King, vi chiederete se ci sono parti horror o splatter (specie se come me siete sensibili alle budella che vagano impazzite). No, per niente, ci sono sangue, violenza e paura (e anche un riferimento ad It), ma senz'altro non è un horror. E' un libro che non si può incasellare in un genere ben preciso: ci sono avventura, amore, mistero, accenni di fantascienza e così via. Su tutto però aleggia quel senso di inquietudine che minaccia la trama del reale che è il marchio di fabbrica di King.

Il finale è un'esplosione di fuochi d'artificio. Non era quello che pensavo e nemmeno quello che avrei voluto, eppure ci sta veramente bene. Mi sto ancora riprendendo.

11/22/63 is a Stephen King novel written in 2011. I like King very much, despite he churns out bestsellers, I found all of his books that I've read of a good quality. This one, however, struck me as one of the best and involved me so much that I'm afraid of not being able to make a completely objective judgment.

The plot: Jake Edding, a literature professor, discovers that Al, the manager of his favorite diner, has a secret. In fact, in his pantry there is a passage that takes everyone who goes through it at the same time and date 11:50AM of the 9th of September, 1958. Al reveals to the protagonist he is seriously ill and begs him to take his place the mission that he wanted to do himself: preventing the assassination of President Kennedy, which occurred on November 22, 1963.

I will not tell you any more and I do not recommend you to read most comprehensive summaries (I warn you, that of Wikipedia is a gigantic spoiler), you would only diminish the pleasure of reading. And the reading is really great! King 's characters are always very human and believable, the reconstruction of life in the late '50s in the U.S. is phenomenal, you can almost smell the smells and taste the foods, and the dynamics of time travel with its rules alone would be enough to create a series of stunning twists.

As we are talking about King, you may wonder if there are horror or splatter parts (especially if like me you are sensitive to crazy roaming guts) . No, it isn't. There are blood, violence and fear, but it's not an horror for sure. It is a book that you can not pigeonhole into a genre: there are adventure, love, mystery, science fiction and so on. On the whole story, however, lingers a sense of an unrest that threatens the thread of reality that is King's trademark.

The final is a fireworks explosion. It was not what I thought and not what I wanted, but still really good. I'm still recovering from it.

La bambina che amava Tom Gordon/The girl who loved Tom Gordon

"La bambina che amava Tom Gordon" è un libro del 1999 di Stephen King.
La protagonista è una bambina di 12 anni che si perde nel bosco. Sarebbe già molto bella come classica storia di sopravvivenza, ma presto prende tinte più fosche (è pur sempre King!), e la trama diventa qualcosa di diverso e molto più intrigante senza però trasformarsi in un horror.
Ho trovato il libro davvero bello e ben scritto. Quello che mi è piaciuto di più è la personalità realistica della bambina (niente fiorellini e cuoricini, ma nemmeno caccia ai conigli con il coltello da cucina), i riferimenti che oggi suonano vintage (e per me anche un po'nostalgici) alla cultura anni '90, ma soprattutto il fatto che questo libro, senza mai dichiararlo, è un geniale adattamento di Cappuccetto Rosso!!! Infatti la bambina ha un berretto rosso che non toglie mai, si perde nel bosco e c'è anche "il lupo cattivo", ma non vi anticipo altro. Leggetelo assolutamente!

"The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" is a 1999 book by Stephen King.
The protagonist is a 12 year old girl that gets lost in the woods. It would have already been very nice as a classic survival story, but soon it takes darkest shades (it is still King!), and the plot becomes something different and much more intriguing without turning into a horror.
I found the book really good and well written. What I liked most is the realistic personality of the child (no hearts and flowers, but not hunting rabbit with kitchen knives too), references that today seem quite vintage (and for me also nostalgic) to the culture of the 90s, but especially the fact that this book, without ever declaring it, is a brilliant adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood!!! In fact, the little girl has a red cap that she never takes off, gets lost in the forest and there is also "the big bad wolf", but I won't spoiler more. You absolutely have to read it!
