I wanted to leave to Barcellona dressed like this, but my parents criticized my outfit because they said it isn't warm enough and it was too unconfortable (and because my father said I looked like a smurf XD). I'll recycle the idea for another moment.

Natale in Giappone/Xmas in Japan

In Japan Xmas isn't a national holiday, but it's celebrated, mainly in a commercial way. Remember that 2% ca. of the population is catholic.
Cities are decorated with a lot of beutiful Xmas lights and decoration.
The celebration generally consists in eating chicken, Xmas cacke (usually a cake with wipped cream, strawberries and Xmas decorations) and going to see te Xmas lights with the person you love. Infact for the teenagers Xmas is a romantic festivity. Sometimes there is a present exchange with friends and the loved one.
There are Xmas events in pubs, clubs and similar, meant for an older public.

I miei regali di Natale ♬/My Xmas Presents ♬

This Xmas I was very spoiled, I had a lot of presents and I liked them all a lot!!! ^∇^

From the Hairy Half I recieved a fat seal pelouche that I called Terralba like a place in Liguria (an italian region famous for it's seaside places) were they make a super yummy focaccia (it's a traditional dish of Liguria, similar to a oily and flat bread. It's a pun between "focaccia" and the italian world for seal, "foca") *____*

From my (very generous) father I recieved a new wonderful camera *__*
I'll finally have good photos on my blog!!!

From my mother I recieved a cool mysterious box witch inside had...

...a dog shaped cd holder (it's more probable that I'll sleep with it then that Ill'use it as a cd holder, tough), a lovely tee she bought in Warsaw, Poland, very weel chosen tough our taste differs greatly coming to skulls and goth/punk stuff. It's brand is Reserved (doesn't it seems like some Tally Weijl tees?). And two books: "Ayesha, the return of She", the romance following (and for witch I searched a lot and never found) "She", that I loved, and "Civilization of fashion" by Belfanty, an essay about the history of fashion (expect posts about it...). She really spoiled me a lot!

From my brother a pair of ballerina shaped slippers, a bit tight but very elegant

From my granny of the mother side I received a Chapati design's dress with pointed hoodie with a bell, double zip, lace...⋆ç⋆
From my granny on the father side I had money I truly appreciate but don't think it's worth of photography XD

From my friend J. a wonderful necklace by Carpe Diem that will look perfect with this dress of mine

From my friend Bi homemade coockies (she says she isn't a good cook, but it's obviously false) and as an anticipated birthday present a multitasking ribbon with a flower (she and my friend J. did the set without consulting O_O)

Una bellissima giornata/a really good day

Tough my hopes ot a white Xmas it rains from yesterday and it seems it will go on until Xmas -_-'
But today I met two of my best friends for lunch and we exchanged our Xmas presents!!! *_____*
We wento to it to an indian restourant, very chap and yummy!
The decor was wonderful, very coloured and there were particular cultery and blue glasses too...not the usual restaurant at all.
I ate the vegetarian menu and finished my friend's chicken menù (they never finish their dishes and I always eat their leftovers XD).
After lunch my friend J. had to go away and I went window shopping with my friend Bi. I don't like so much clothes'shops in this period, it's all to sparkling and flashy, not really fit for everyday wear (for example I never used again the red lace dress with sparkles I wore for a new year party three years ago, dunno why XD). At Pimky I found a white tulle skirt I'll surely buy during the sales if it'll be on discount.

NEWS: this year the sales in MIlan will start on January 6th.
I wanted to restrain myself from going the forst day because I don't really need new clothes and I often find the clohtes I bought at the start of the sales cheaper at the end of the sales.

I recieved compliments for my outfit ^^

Inception: sogno o realtà?/Dream or reality?

Ho appena visto Inception e merita 5/5, netto.

BELLISSIMOOOOOOO!
Guardatelo. E'un ordine.

I have just seen Inception and it earned a full rate of 5/5.
It's a 2010 Cristopher Nolan film. They call it science fiction, but it's more an oniric thriller.
Di Caprio, from being a hateful brat lurved by teenagers become a great actor. In the cast there are Ken Watanabe (great in "The last samurai" - yes in the film there are japanese too), Ellen Page (protagonist of the wonderful "Juno"), Josep Gordon-Levitt (REALLY hot in elegant clothes) and Cillian Murphy. A non laughable cast, infact they all acted greatly.

PLOT (I tried not to put in spoilers, but if you don't wanna risk don't read it): in the film's word people with a special training can share the same dream or enter another's dream. As dream and reality sometimes aren't easy to tell apart, each dreamer has a special object. Only mim/her knows it's property in the reality, so he/she can tell it's a dream if he/she feels changes in his object. For example in the dreamword spinnigs tops spin forever.
The protagonist is Dom Cobb (Di Caprio), who, with a selected group enters people's dream to stole their secrets. A rich japanese industry owner, Saito (Watanabe), persuades Cobb to try a really difficult performance: to implant an idea in his rival's mind. Cobb, pushed by his runaway condiction and by his dramatic family situation, bounded to the death of his wife, Moll, agrees and choose the best team of "implantators" possible.
The mission is dangerous because the unconscious incites "antibody" to kill invaders, waking them up. Going deeper in the dream levels (a dream in a dream, in a dream...) the unconscious become stronger. In each dream you have to die to wake up, but the pain is real and you risk to wake up before the end of the mission.
And the more you go deep in the dream levels the more time dilatates. But Cobb doesn't tell to his team the real risk of working on more then two dream levels, and the danger that comes from his obsession about the dead wife...

Incredible special effects. Music by the great Hans Zimmer. A totally impossible tough incredibly realistic setting.
An ending that has something of Blade Runner's unicorn.
WONDERFUUUUUUUL!
Watch it. It's an order.

Piatti invernali veloci/Some quick winter recipe

Disclaimer:

These recipes aren't high cousine at all, they are composed mostly of deep frozen or canned food. The good side is that they are really easy, so you can think they are a bit banal. To excuse myself I have to say that they are quick recipes, not too high in calories (tough I'm not so obsessive to count calories yet) and quite healthy.
Excuse me if I didn't have photos of all and I used some photos found searching the net, but some of my photos got lost because of my crappy camera and for the others...when I'm in front of food instead of taking photos my first instinct is to eat it! :P

1) Lenticchie al sugo/lentils with tomato sauce
Ingredienti:
- lenticchie in scatola o in cartone
- lattina di pelati
- aglio
- olio
- peperoncino

Ingredients: - tinned lentils - tinned peeled tomatoes - garlic - olive oil - hot pepper Fry the garlic and the hot pepper in a pan with hot oil. When the garlic is turning golden brown add the tomatoes. Let shrink the sauce a little, then add the lentils with a bit of their water and let shrink the sauce a little again. Be careful of not let the dish dry too much because the lentils tend to mash. Ready! Adding cheese (in particular taleggio) to the hot dish to melt is really yummy, but not dietetic.

2) mozzarella alla pizzaiola/mozzarella with tomato sauce
Ingredienti:
- mozzarella (una a testa)
- lattina di pelati
- sale

Aggiungere sale e mangiare.

Ingredients: - mozzarella cheese - tinned peeled tomatoes
- salt

Warm up the tomatoes in a pan and when they are hot add the mozzarella cheese cutted in pieces. Wait until it melts. Add salt and eat.

Ingredients:
- miso
- all you can find that can be putted into a soup (advices: meat, deep frozen mushrooms, broccoli, lentils...)

The preparation consists in making a soup with all you can find at home that can be put into a soup and adding miso (japanese soybeans paste, usually they give you at the japanese restourant) to have a strogner flavour and a better texture.

This soup was made of lentils, deep frozen mushrooms and miso, with a decoration of chives

Potete aggiungere al soffritto anche del peperoncino./Crouton: fry garlic or onion or green onion or leek in oil, butter or, if you wan something refined, lard. You can add hot pepper to the broened garlic too.
  • Aggiungere fresco o surgelato o in scatola l'ingrediente principale della zuppa, per esempio, per la zuppa di funghi, funghi in scatola o funghi surgelati./Add the principal ingredient of the soup./Add more of the main ingredient of the soup, fresh, canned or deep fried. For example mushrooms to a mushroom soup.
  • Prezzemolo./Parsley.

Epica lotta alle tarme/epic fight against the moths

The Hairy Half and I dedicated the day to the fight against the moth's infestation (he must love me very much). As now we searched for the infested things and wasted (the clothes) or isolated (the pelouches) them. Fortunately the damage wasn't extended as I feared, but it was all among the pelouches :T_T: The last time I wasted a lot of theam, but this time I studied better. We'll exterminate them and I will hug my pelouches again! Here are some very good and interesting piece of advice from wikipedia. I think people who have a moth infestation like me or are interested in prevenction will find it interesting.

Control measures for T. bisselliella (and similar species) include the following:

  • Physical measures
    • Clothing moth traps – this step can help monitor the current infestation and prevent males from mating with females
    • Cryofumigation – Fumigating an object with dry ice, that is enclosing it in a plastic bag for 3–5 days with dry ice so it is effectively bathed in a high concentration of carbon dioxide, denied oxygen, and thus it will kill all stages of clothing moths. For details, see Clothes Moths Management Guidelines, under "Household Furnishings". (I think I'll try it).
    • Dry cleaning – This step kills moths on existing clothing and helps remove moisture from clothes
    • Freezing – Freezing the object for several days at temperatures below 32 °F (0 °C) (my favourite teddy bear and some others are already in the freezer)
    • Heat (120 °F or 49 °C for 30 minutes or more) – these conditions may possibly be achieved by placing infested materials in an attic in warm weather, or by washing clothes at or above this temperature
    • Sunlight – has a limited effect
    • Vacuuming – Since the moths like to hide in carpeting and baseboards, this is an important step towards full eradication
  • Mothproofing – Treatment of materials as a preventive measure before their use, as well as simply for storage, has a long history. Many of the treatments were concerned more with moth protection than consumer safety. 5% silicofluoride solution treatment, with 0.2% to 0.3% applied fluorine, was found to give adequate protection; magnesium hexafluorosilicate (an inorganic insecticide also used as sheep dip) was marketed as late as 1989 for mothproofing. Arsenical compounds were effective in killing larvae but were considered too toxic for human contact even in the early 20th century. Triphenyltin chloride was effective at 0.25%. After 1947, chloronated hydrocarbon insecticides of many varieties were found to be effective at the low concentrations practical for preservative treatment. Examples are chlordane at 2% per weight of wool, toxaphene at 0.8%, pentachlorophenol or BHC at 0.5%, DDT at 0.2%, chlordecone and mirex at 0.06%, and dieldrin at 0.05%. Imidazole (a non-chloronated aromatic heterocyclic) at 1% also gave satisfactory protection. Besides solvent-based applications, insecticidal dusts were commonly used to treat fabrics. In the 1950s EQ-53, a DDT emulsion, was recommended by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to add to the final rinse of washable woolens, but even then cautions were given to the use of chloronated hydrocarbons on items subject to commercial drycleaning.
    • Mothballs – are used primarily as a preservative but also will kill existing larvae if the concentration is high enough. There are two types of mothball: early 20th century ones were based on naphthalene, while mid 20th century ones used paradichlorobenzene. Both evaporate into a gas, which is heavier than air and needs to reach a high concentration at the protected material to be effective. Disadvantages: somewhat toxic and carcinogenic, mothballs should not be put where they can be eaten by children or pets. Naphthalene mothballs are also highly flammable.
  • Insecticides – typically aerosol application works best if coverage is adequate. Treat once a month for the first three months and then once a quarter for the next year to ensure the infestation is under control.
    • Permethrin – a particular synthetic pyrethroid available as aerosol spray. Disadvantages: very toxic to cats and fishes.
    • Pyrethroids or pyrethrins (e.g. Cy-Kick, Deltamethrin) – synthetic or natural pyrethrins available as aerosol spray or as dusts. Disadvantages: some are persistent in the ecosystem and toxic to fish, possibly resistance.
    • Pyriproxyfen (or other juvenile hormone analogs) – stop the life cycle by preventing the caterpillars from pupating
  • Biological measures
    • Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora) – a safer and more natural alternative to mothballs but may require high vapour concentrations
    • Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana) – questionable value as long-term deterrent. While the volatile oil is able to kill small larvae, it is difficult to maintain sufficient concentrations of it around stored articles to be effective; cedar wood loses all moth-suppressant capabilities after a few years. Other cedar species may have better or worse effects.
    • Common Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) – either bags with dried lavender flowers are put into the wardrobe (they can be refreshed by putting a few drops of lavender oil on them), or a few drops of lavender oil are put on a piece of fabric which is then deposited in the wardrobe and periodically refreshed. Disadvantage: strong "perfumed" smell
    • Ichneumon wasps (e.g. Trichogramma evanescens) – tiny parasitoid wasps which place their own eggs beside those of the moths; when hatching their larvae eat the moth eggs. Ichneumon wasps are harmless to humans, measuring only about 2 mm. Once all moth eggs are eaten, the wasps vanish within 2–4 weeks. (Veeeeeeery interesting! But were you can buy them? I coudn't find even the permethrine yet!)

Sta nevicando!/It's snowing!

Here in Milan it's snowing! And the snow is piling up too, maybe we'll have a white Xmas *_*
Going to work I continued to look happily at the snowflakes on my gloves, while people looked at me thinking I was under drugs XD
My camera is dead, so I tried to photograph the snowing with the webcam. The result was pityful, so I added the beutiful above snoflake.

A snifter of the deliciuos chocolate and hot pepper liqueur the Hairy Half bought me is the right way to celebrate!
And now it's better if i go writing Xmas cards to my japanese hostfamily and to a friend from Taiwan I met in Japan, because I want them to make it in time.
