Il mio Aprile via Instagram/My April trough Instagram

Aprile è iniziato con la seconda edizione di Bricòla, il festival dedicato all'autoproduzione a fumetti creato da WOW Spazio Fumetto, il museo del fumetto di Milano, a cui ho partecipato con il gruppo di autoproduzione di cui faccio parte, Cargo.

April started with the second edition of Bricòla, the self producted comic festival created by WOW Spazio Fumetto, the comic museum of Milan, to which I participated with the self-production group I'm part of, Cargo.

Il secondo weekend del mese sono andata a GarbenFantasy, un festival medieval/fantasy a Garbagnate, vicino a Milano, in occasione del quale ho ricevuto il premio del concorso Tolkien a fumetti, organizzato dalla Compagnia de' Viaggiatori in Arme in collaborazione con Wow Spazio Fumetto.

On the second weekend of the month I went to GarbenFantasy, a medieval/fantasy festival in Garbagnate, near Milan, where I received the Tolkien inspired contest comic prize, organized by Compagnia de' Viaggiatori in Arme in collaboration with Wow Spazio Fumetto.

Sotto Pasqua sono stata qualche giorno al mare con i miei dove ho mangiato come un animale e mi sono rilassata.

On Easter I was a few days at the seaide with my family and I ate like an animal and relaxed.

L'ultimo 

Intanto l'organizzazione del matrimonio prosegue imperterrita, nonostante problemi di tutti i generi. Finalmente abbiamo ottenuto il visto per la Cina, riordinato la stanza che usavamo come sgabuzzino da anni, scelto i piatti, fatto le statuine per la torta...

Meanwhile, the organization of my wedding continues, despite problems of all kinds. We finally got the visa for China and reorganized the room we used as storage from years, choose the food, made the cake toppers...

Questo mese sono riuscita a fare qualche lavoretto: ho ricamato un maglione e stampato una maglietta per coprire delle macchie, cucito e stampato una maglietta con dei limoni, non contenta ho stampato una maglietta con un lime, una con nuvole, aquiloni e mongolfiere e ho sistemato lo scollo di un'altra maglietta.

This month I was able to craft a bit: I embroidered a sweater and printed a t-shirt to cover some stains, I saw and printed a lemon shirt, and, not happy, I printed a t-shirt with a lime, one with clouds, kites and hot air baloons and I fixed the neckine of another one.

Ad Aprile, forse per via dello stress, ho fatto davvero troppo shopping. Ho saccheggiato il centro commerciale di Arese, sono stata all'African Oriental Craft, un negozio che vende prodotti tipici orientali e africani, poi con la scusa di sistemare la casa sono andata all'Ikea e poi in due diversi mercati, al Lidl e ho fatto anche compere su Amazon (per la maggior parte per il matrimonio).

In April, maybe because of the stress, I really did too much shopping. I looted the Arese shopping center, I went to the African Oriental Craft, a shop that sells typical Oriental and African products, then with the excuse to organize the house I went to Ikea and then to two different markets, to Lidl and I even did purchases on Amazon (mostly for the wedding).

Nonostante i buoni propositi, anche questo mese ho mangiato troppo. Ho provato un nuovo ristorante, la Bottega del Ramen.

Despite my good intentions, this month I ate too much too. I tried a new restaurant, Bottega del Ramen.

Ikea

Una delle questioni che io e la Pelosa Metà abbiamo dovuto risolvere con i preparativi per il matrimonio è stato rendere agibile la stanza che usavamo come ripostiglio per potere ospitare la mia amica Prociona e suo marito che vengono da Londra apposta per assistere alla cerimonia.

In realtà era un lavoro che avremmo dovuto fare molto prima e abbiamo sempre rimandato.

Quando ci siamo decisi, abbiamo capito che avremmo dovuto fare un giro all'Ikea per comprare dei contenitori per le cose che vagavano sparse per la stanza. Abbiamo scelto i Samla da 56x39x42cm (6€ l'uno più 2€ per ogni coperchio).

One of the problems that I and my Hairy Half had to settle with the preparations for the wedding was clearing the room that we used as a storage room to be able to accommodate my friend Prociona and her husband who are going to come from London to attend the ceremony.

To tell the truth, it was a job that we should have done much earlier and we always put off.

When we got to do it, we realized that we had to go to Ikea to buy containers for some of the things that roamed scattered around the room. We chose Samla (56x39x42cm, 6€ each plus 2 € for each lid).

Ne abbiamo approfittato anche per risolvere la nostra cronica mancanza di sedie e lampadari.

Abbiamo preso un Brunsta, un bellissimo lampadario hipster geometrico (un buon compromesso fra la luminosità della lampadina nuda e la decenza) a 18€ e due coprilampada tondi di carta (Regolit) a 2€ l'uno.

Volevamo delle sedie pieghevoli per questioni di spazio e abbiamo scelto le Terje (13€ l'una) in un color legno che si intonava con gli altri nostri mobili.

Once at Ikea, we decided to solve our chronic lack of chairs and lampshades.

We bought a Brunsta, a beautiful geometric hipster lampshade (a good compromise between the brightness of the bare bulb and decency) for18 € and two round paper lampshades (Regolit) for 2€ each.

We wanted folding chairs for reasons of space and we chose the Terje (13€ each) in a wood color that matched our furniture.

Io ne ho approfittato per prendere 3 cornici a 80 centesimi l'una. Hanno le stesse dimensioni di quelle di Tiger e una qualità più o meno equivalente (forse leggermente superiore) però costano meno, quindi in caso ve le consiglio.

Ho anche comprato un pennello da cucina a 1€ circa.

I also bought 3 frames for 80 cents each. They have the same size as Tiger's and a more or less equivalent quality (perhaps slightly better) but cost less, so in case my advice is to go for Ikea's.

I also bought a kitchen brush for around 1€.

Naturalmente ho voluto a tutti i costi andare alla Bottega Svedese. Ho comprato tante delle solite cose (i cracker all'aneto, la pasta dolciastra di uova di pesce affumicate, il caviale d'alghe, i biscotti allo zenzero), ma, non essendoci mai andata a Pasqua, ho potuto prendere anche delle cose nuove: un uovo di Pasqua di cartone (in cui mettere un regalino) e la bevanda tipica svedese di Pasqua (una sorta di bizzarro incrocio fra Coca Cola e birra).

Ho anche voluto provare il crumble al rabarbaro surgelato (confezione da 4 tortine), che, anche se gli ingredienti non erano incredibili e l'ho riscaldato nella maniera sbagliata, non era niente male.

Of course I wanted at all costs to go to the Swedish Food Shopp. I bought a lot of the usual things (the dill crackers, the sweet paste of smoked fish eggs, seaweed caviar, ginger cookies), but, as I never went there near Easter, I also got to buy new themed stuff: a cardboard Easter egg (in which I put a gift) and the typical Easter Swede drink (a sort of weird cross between Coca Cola and beer).

I also tried the frozen rhubarb crumble (4 pack), and even if the ingredients were not amazing and I warmed them up the wrong way, weren't bad at all.

Il mio Dicembre via Instagram/My December via Instagram

A inizio Dicembre il mio collettivo di fumettisti, Cargo, ha presentato il calendario 2017. E' venuto molto bene ed è stata una gran soddisfazione.

In early December my cartoonists collective, Cargo, presented the 2017 calendar. It came out really well and it was a great satisfaction.

Per fortuna in ambito lavorativo ha iniziato ad andar meglio. Sono anche stata mandata per lavoro tre giorni a Cittadella, che mi è piaciuta moltissimo.

Fortunately my working situation began to get better. I was also sent to work three days in Cittadella, which I loved.

A Natale e dintorni ho ricevuto un sacco di bellissimi regali (fra cui una sopresa che ha dato il via ad un grande progetto per l'anno prossimo, di cui vi parlerò in seguito). Ho anche mangiato come un maiale (strano, eh?).

For Christmas I received a lot of beautiful gifts (including a surprise that caused the start of a major project for next year, about which I will talk another time). I also ate like a pig (weird, huh?).

A Capodanno giochi in scatola e abbuffate con gli amici, come al solito.

For New Year's Eve I played board games and overate with my friends like always.

Questo mese ho di nuovo visto un sacco di telefilm, fra cui Galavant, Orange is the new black e Westworld. Ho anche visto vari film fra cui Amore e inganni, Captain Fantastic, Rogue One.

This month I saw a lot of TV series again, including Galavant, Orange is the new black, and Westworld. I also watched several films including Love & Friendship, Captain Fantastic, Rogue One.

Ovviamente Natale è periodo di shopping scatenato fatto con la scusa dei regali. Secondo tradizione sono stata all'Ikea e all'Artigiano in Fiera (ma alla fine sono stata relativamente brava... fino a fine mese, quando mi è scappato qualche acquisto prima dei saldi).

Obviously Christmas is a period of savage shopping done with the excuse of buying gifts. Following the tradition I went to Ikea and Artisan Fair (but in the end I was relatively good... until the end of the month, when I did some purchases before the sales).

A livello di creatività non ho combinato tantissimo. Ho anche trascurato la mia rinata passione per la cucina (anche se ho fatto una crema di gorgonzola al tartufo favolosa).

 Mi sono concentrata sul fabbricare una serie di regali di Natale (fra cui un calendario dell'avvento), ma ho anche fatto dei gioielli per me.

Regarding creativity I didn't accomplish much. I also neglected my reborn passion for cooking (but I made a super truffle gorgonzola cream).

 I focused on making a series of Christmas gifts (even an advent calendar), but I also made some jewels for me.

Dicembre è sempre un mese di grandi mangiate! Ho provato Spontini, la famosa catena di pizza al trancio, e il ristorante paninoteca Fuorimano. Abbiamo fatto i latkes per Hannukkà e ovviamente poi ci sono state le abbuffate della Vigilia, di Natale, di S. Stefano e di Capodanno e varie uscite con gli amici.

December is always a month of bingeing! I tried Spontini, the famous pizza chain, and the restaurant Fuorimano. We made latkes for Hanukkah, than obviously there were the meals of Chrismas' Eve, Christmas, of the Boxing Day and of New Year's Eve and various meetings with friends.

Ikea

Ormai mi sono inventata la tradizione di andare all'Ikea sotto Natale perché mi piacciono gli addobbi e i giocattoli del reparto bambini e perché il cibo della Bottega Svedese è perfetto per alcune occasioni mangerecce di stagione.

I invented the tradition of going to Ikea in the Christmas period because I like the decorations and the children department's toys and because Swedish food is perfect for some eating situations of this season.

Quest'anno sono riuscita a trattenermi dal comprare pelouche, anche se questa matita mi sembrava una bellissima idea regalo per un disegnatore.

In compenso ho comprato una tazza carinissima a 3,50€.

This year I managed to restrain myself from buying plushies, although this pencil seemed a beautiful gift idea for a cartoonist.

On the other hand I bought a cute mug for 3.50€.

Alla bottega svedese sono rimasta molto delusa, perché all'Ikea di Corsico c'era pochissima varietà. Non c'erano né il mio adorato caviar né il finto caviale di alghe. Alla fine abbiamo comprato qualche birra, un salame, ottimi cracker con sesamo e aneto e salmone affumicato.

Mi sono consolata preparando quella sera stessa cracker al salmone e pasta alla zarina.

I was very disappointed with the swedish food shop, because at the Ikea I went to there was very little variety. There were neither my beloved caviar or the fake seaweed roe. In the end we bought some beer, an elk salami, really good crackers with sesame and dill and some smoked salmon.

I consoled myself preparing crackers with salmon and tsarina pasta that evening.

Ikea & Tiger

Sono riuscita ad andare all'Ikea a fare acquisti alla bottega svedese. Del resto non sono riuscita a vedere niente perché la Pelosa Metà mi ha trascinato via per impedirmi di comprare metà del reparto bambini come al solito. Il mio portafoglio ringrazia.

I managed to go to Ikea to shop to buy swedish food. I couldn't see anything beside the food shop because the Hairy Half dragged me away to keep me from buying half of the children's department as usual. He has my wallet's gratitude.

Ho comprato dei cracker all'aneto, delle aringhe marinate, il caviar (una pasta dolciastra di uova di pesce affumicate), un salame di alce e maiale, salmone affumicato, i particolari vol au vent "a conchiglia" che ho trovato solo lí, la casetta di panpepato e qualche birra (se vi interessa la recensione di tutti questi prodotti la trovate qui). Invece non ho trovato il caviale vegano di alghe e quello di aringa che volevo per capodanno e neanche il crumble al rabarbaro e lamponi che avevo visto sul sito, sono un po' delusa.

I bought dill crackers, marinated herrings, caviar (a sweet smoked fish roe paste), a moose and pork salami, smoked salmon, the strange "clamshell" vol au vent I found only there, the gingerbread house and some beers (if you want to read my review all of these products, you can find it here). Instead I didn't find the vegan algae caviar and the herring one that I wanted for the new year's eve and even the rhubarb and raspberry crumble I saw on the website, so I was a bit disappointed.

Sono andata anche da Tiger, ma sono stata bravissima, per me ho comprato solo delle nuove cuffie (8€).  Trovo molto scomodo che le cuffie siano tenute in cassa, bisogna scegliere troppo in fretta senza poterle vedere da vicino. Non sono già più convinta del colore che ho scelto  perché da vicino alcune parti sono perlate.

I also went to Tiger, but I was a good girl, for myself I just bought new headphones (8€). I find very inconvenient that the headphones are kept near the cashier, you have to choose too fast without being able to see the products up close. I am already regretting my colour choiche a bit because looking the headphones closely some parts are pearly.

Hanukkah

Hannukkia improvvisata... e albero!/Improvised hannukkia... and tree!

Oggi è l'ultimo giorno di Hanukkah, auguri a chi lo festeggia!

I miei genitori non avevano mai assaggiato i latkes, le tipiche frittelle di patate e cipolle preparate dagli ebrei dell'Europa dell'Est durante questa festività, così li ho invitati a cena per mangiarli insieme. Poi si sono aggiunte anche le mie nonne ed è diventata una festa vera e propria.

Today is the last day of Hanukkah, hag sameach to those who celebrate it!

My parents had never tried latkes, the traditional potato and onions pancakes prepared by the Eastern Europe Jews during this holyday, so I invited them to dinner to eat them together. Then I ended up inviting also my grandmothers and it become a real party.

Ho usato come al solito questa ricetta per i latkes raddoppiando le dosi per la pastella. Ho moltiplicato le dosi per due per il numero di persone presenti, ma è venuto davvero troppo impasto, ne è avanzata circa la metà (trasformata poi in una torta salata). Sarà anche che quest'anno ho approfittato della presenza di ospiti per servire le frittelle con panna acida e salmone, una vera goduria! Ma forse è avanzato impasto anche perché ho offerto un antipasto a base di patatine blu (trovate all'Esselunga in sconto, hanno lo stesso sapore delle patatine normali, ma fanno scena) e cracker all'aneto, aringhe marinate e caviar, tutto dell'Ikea. Sia le aringhe sia il caviar hanno un gusto dolciastro quindi possono risultare strani ad un palato italiano standard, ma i cracker sono piaciuti proprio a tuttti!

For the latkes I used this recipe as usual doubling the doses of the batter. I multiplied the two people doses for the number of people present, but the result was really too much, about half of it was left over (but afterwards it was turned into a pie). It may be that this year I took advantage of the of guests to serve the latkes with sour cream and salmon, a real pleasure! But maybe the dough exceeded the needs also because I offered an appetizer of blue chips (theu have the same flavor of regular chips, but they have much more impact) and dill crackers, pickled herring and a caviar paste, all from Ikea. Both the herring and caviar have a sweet taste so they can be strange for a standard Italian palate, but everyone just loved the crackers!

Durante il dopocena ho cercato su YouTube della musica a tema e ho trovato questo video carinissimo di un gruppo che canta a cappella canzoni ebraiche tradizionali. Il secondo tizio da sinistra secondo me assomiglia un po' a Leonard di Big Bang Theory.

During the after dinner I searched for themed music on YouTube and I found this nice video of a group that sings traditional Jewish songs a cappella. The second guy from the left in my opinion looks a little like Leonard of Big Bang Theory.

Una mia amica mi ha anche fatto conoscere questa canzone carinissima a tema che pare sia andata tantissimo su internet (quante cose che non so).

A friend of mine also made me find out about this nice themed song. It seems it became viral on the internet some time ago (how many things I don't know).

Anche se non abbiamo mai festeggiato questa ricorrenza in famiglia (tranne una volta riuscita anche maluccio), mia madre è stata così carina da farmi un regalino, della cioccolata di Modica al peperoncino comprata al mercatino di Amnesty.

Although we never celebrated this holyday in my family (except once that wasn't a success), my mother was so nice to buy me a gift, chilli Modica chocolate bought at an Amnesty market.

Ikea

Dopo una lunga corruzione fatta di occhi a stellina e promesse di piattini speciali, sono riuscita a convincere la Pelosa Metà ad accompagnarmi all'Ikea. Ovviamente c'erano già le decorazioni e i prodotti natalizi e l'atmosfera era molto carina.

Come sempre il reparto bambini e in particolare i pelouches sono stati la cosa che mi ha attratto di più, ma, rispetto al grigiume che ho visto sul catalogo di inizio autunno, mi è piaciuto molto anche l'arredamento in generale. In particolare ho adorato un costosissimo cuscino con su uno scoiattolo che però mi sono rifiutata di comprare (12€ per una federa?).

After a long corruption made of starry eyes and promises of special dishes, I managed to convince my Hairy Half to accompany me to Ikea. Obviously there were already Christmas decorations and products and the atmosphere was very nice.

As always the children's department and especially stuffed animals were the thing that attracted me most, but, compared to the greyness I saw on the early autumn catalog, I also really liked the overall decor. In particular I loved an expensive pillow with a squirrel but I refused to buy it (12€ for a pillowcase?).

 

Ma passiamo agli acquisti! Purtroppo non abbiamo trovato la scarpiera che cercavamo. Però io ho comprato una lampada da installare sopra il mio tavolo luminoso per le giornate di cattivo tempo. E come ogni volta non sono riuscita ad uscire senza un nuovo pelouche; stavolta ho scelto un minuscolo scoiattolo che stringe un funghetto. Ovviamente, non potevo non fare shopping anche alla bottega svedese: ho comprato caviale di aringa e finto caviale di alga per capodanno, un salame affumicato di maiale e alce, il Kaviar (una pasta di caviale dolciastra), una tavoletta di marzapane, la casetta di pan di zenzero, il glogg analcolico alla mela e l'ottima birra scura.

But let's move to the purchases! Unfortunately we did not find the shoe rack we were looking for. But I bought a lamp to install on my light table for the days of bad weather. And like every time I failed to get out without a new stuffed animal; this time I chose a tiny squirrel clutching a mushroom. Obviously, I could not miss going shopping at the Swedish shop too: I bought herring caviar and fake seaweed caviar for new year's eve, a smoked pork and elk salami, Kaviar (a sweetish caviar cream), a bar of marzipan, the gingerbread house, non-alcoholic apple glogg and the excellent dark beer.
