L'ultima avventura del pirata Long John Silver (Björn Larsson)

"La vera storia del pirata Long John Silver" di Björn Larsson, che riprende il personaggio del carismatico pirata de "L'isola del tesoro" di Sthepenson, mi era piaciuto tantissimo (trovate la mia recensione qui), così  ho deciso di comprare anche il seguito, che per l'appunto si chiama "L'ultima avventura del pirata Long John Silver".

In Italia è edito da Iperborea (che usa carta certificata FSC, grande!) e costa 7€. Forse per essere un libro così corto è caro, ma un film ormai costa uguale se non di più.

E' un volumetto piccolo piccolo che si legge in un pomeriggio, godibile e ben scritto.

Racconta un'avventura in sé conclusa, ma che necessita di aver letto il primo libro per essere compresa appieno, visto che vengono nominati vari personaggi e avvenimenti che vi fanno riferimento.

La storia è carina, ma non eccezionale. Il lettore rimane con l'impressione che Larrson si sia innamorato del suo personaggio (e come dargli torto), e che, piuttosto di seppellirlo con il primo libro, lo abbia ripreso a costo di creare un racconto che non aggiunge niente e anzi rischia di togliere al suo capolavoro.

Ma se anche voi vi siete innamorati del Silver di Larrson e non resistete all'idea di leggere un'altra storia che lo vede protagonista, non vedo perché sconsigliarvelo.

I loved "Long John Silver" by Björn Larsson, who takes up the character of the charismatic pirate of  Sthepenson's "Treasure Island " (you can find my review here), so I decided to buy the sequel, which is called "The last adventure of the pirate Long John Silver".

It's a small little booklet that can be read in an afternoon, enjoyable and well written.

It tells a self contained adventure, but to be fully understood needs the reading of the first book, as there are various references to it.

The story is good, but not great. The reader is left with the impression that Larrson fell in love with his ​​character (and who can blame him) , and that, rather than burying him with the first book, resumed him at the cost of creating a story that does not add anything and in fact is likely to subtract from his masterpiece.

But if you too are in love with the Silver by Larrson and do not resist the idea of reading another story with him as the protagonist, I do not see why advicing against it.
