Resurrection

 

Resurrection è una serie tv statunitense del 2014 composta da 2 stagioni rispettivamente di 8 e 13 episodi e attualmente cancellata dalla programmazione. La storia si basa sul romanzo "The Returned" di Jason Mott.

Un bambino americano, Jacob, viene trovato in Cina e condotto all'ambasciata. Un gentile agente dell'Immigrazione lo accompagna in quella che dice essere la sua città, Arcadia in Missouri, da quelli che dice essere i suoi genitori. Ma l'anziana coppia che li riceve rimane scioccata, perché loro figlio Jacob era morto annegato nel fiume trent'anni prima proprio all'età che dimostra il bambino.

Il mistero si infittisce quando in città appare un'altra persona ritenuta morta, l'inquietante Caleb Richards, non un anno più vecchio che nel giorno della propria morte.

L'agente dell'Immigrazione Marty Bellamy, con l'aiuto della giovane dottoressa Maggie Langston, la cui madre era morta nello stesso incidente in cui era scomparso Jacob, decide di indagare.

I "ritornati" all'apparenza sembrano persone normalissime, non certo zombie, e il telefilm, piuttosto che cercare di suscitare spavento, si concentra sul mistero che li riguarda e sull'inquietudine legata alla paura della morte.

Ho trovato questa serie intrigante e appassionante, tanto da poter passare sopra a difetti come la recitazione di alcuni attori (soprattutto Jacob, che però essendo un bambino si può giustificare).

Il problema principale di questa prima stagione però è che pone moltissime domande senza dare alcuna risposta. Spero che la seconda colmerà questa lacuna.

Resurrection is a 2014 US TV series consisting of two seasons respectively of 8 and13 episodes currently suspended. The story is based on the novel "The Returned" by Jason Mott.

An American child, Jacob, is found in China and led to the embassy. A gentle Immigration agent accompanies him to what eh says is his city, Arcadia in Missouri, to those who he says his parents are. But the old couple that receives them is shocked, because their son Jacob drowned in the river just thirty years before at the age that the child shows to have.

The mystery deepens when in the city appears another person believed to be dead, the disquieting Caleb Richards, not a year older than the day of his death.

The Immigration agent Marty Bellamy, with the help of the young Dr. Maggie Langston, whose mother died in the same incident in which Jacob did, decides to investigate.

The "returned" apparently seem like normal people, not zombies, and the show, rather than trying to arouse fear, focuses on the mystery that concerns them and anxiety linked to the fear of death.

I found this series intriguing and exciting, even if I didn't like some things like the recitation of some actors (especially Jacob, but being a child he can be justified).

The main problem of this first season, however, is that it raises a lot of questions without giving any answer. I hope that the second will fill this gap.
