There once was a jacket. It was a beautiful jacket with engraved metal buttons and a fancy flowered pattern like an old tapestry. The jacket wasn't practical as it had short sleeves, but its owner did not care, because she was deeply in love with it.
But on the jacket there was a curse: whoever wore it would turn into a rugby player...
Seriously: I have very narrow shoulders so emphasising them look good on me, but at the same time they make inaccessible for me the 90% of the jackets that I find on second hand clothes stalls because they often have huge padded shoulders that look really unnatural on me. Yet sometimes I give in to temptation. I bought this jacket three years ago and, although I love it, I never wear it precisely because of the shoulders, that, even removing the padding, were very wide.

I tought of various complicated techniques to shrink them, but I never applied them for fear of ruining the jacket. This was until the other day, when I got a simple and effective idea: I passed a thiread in the seam of the shoulders ...

... and then I pulled it, making them crinckle a little. In this simple way I reduced the shoulders of 2-3 cm (in the picture you can see the shrunk shoulder over the one yet to be fixed), without cutting pieces of jacket. Moreover, it is also a reversible change, it's enough to cut the thread to bring the shoulders back to their original size.
Unfortunately, this technique only works with light jackets because the heavy ones are too stiff, especially in the shoulder area.

Here is the jacket worn before and after the alteration. I can finally put my beloved vintage jacket without looking like a rugby player!

Geniale!
