Streghe all'estero/Witches abroad (Terry Pratchett)

Per festeggiare mi sono finalmente decisa a scrivere la recensione di Streghe all'estero. E' uno dei romanzi fantasy comici ambientati sul Mondo Disco che hanno reso famoso Terry Pratchett. Ne ho letti vari e mi sento di dire che la qualità è altalenante, anche se è sempre almeno ad un buon livello. Streghe all'estero fortunatamente, fa parte dei migliori che ho letto.

Racconta di tre streghe che devono intraprendere un lungo viaggio per sostituire una fata madrina morta prima di completare il suo compito. Oltre ai nemici, le streghe dovranno affrontare anche le diverse abitudini dei paesi stranieri (vodoo compreso) e continui litigi fra loro. La storia è piena di citazioni, soprattutto delle fiabe più famose.

Una lettura molto divertente e a tratti anche profonda.

To celebrate I finally decided to write a review of Witches Abroad. It's one of the comic fantasy novels set in the Discworld that made Terry Pratchett famous. I've read several and I would say that the quality is fluctuating, although it is always at least at a good level. Witches Abroad, fortunately, is one of the best I've read.
It tells the story of three witches who leave on a long journey to replace a godmother fairy who died before completing her task. In addition to the enemies, the witches will also have to face the different habits of foreign countries (including voodoo) and the constant bickering with each other. The story is full of quotes, especially of the most famous fairy tales.
A very enjoyable and sometimes even profound read.
