Come fare una nappina/How to make a tassel

On Pinterest, I found a tutorial to make tassels using embroidery floss that opened up a world to me. In fact, last year tassels have become trendy clothing details and are an evergreen of dolly kei, but to buy a ready-made one costs a lot. Embroidery floss is not very cheap, but the handmade tassel made with it is still cheaper and of a good quality material (I had bought one cheap tassel, but it was all plastic).

After this long preamble about prices and materials, let's pass to the making. The tutorial I found (you can find it here) uses a cardboard form. I used another method I find simpler, but that is especially suited for the creation of small tassels.
My method consists in winding embroidery thread around two extended and separated fingers. The length of the "skein" thus created will be more or less the one of the tassel.
Attention to the thickness, each side of the skein will be half the thickness of the final tassel, so it is not worth overdoing, the more because, once cut, the tassel swells.

At this point, replace one of the fingers holding the skein with a thinner cylinder, such as a pencil.

Wrap one end of the embroidery floss around the skein, close to the pencil. and tie it tight, keeping meanwhile all taut with one finger.

The part where the pencil is inserted will be one in which infileremo an additional wire or a hook or the like to hang the tassel. Instead l '"ring" from the part where you had the finger should be cut evenly on the part more distant from the knot.

Voila! A tassel obtained quickly and cheaply!
With my first experiment I made an earring.
