Pietra Ligure

Dal 21 al 26 luglio sono andata a Pietra Ligure, ospite del padre del mio ragazzo. Indovinate la mia attività principale oltre a fare il bagno e a prendere il sole (sono ancora bianco latte, ma ora ho le lentiggini)? Indovinato, mangiare! Focacce, pizze, fiori di zucca ripieni e fritti, cibo da sagra... non mi sono fatta mancare niente. E infatti da fine maggio ho preso 3 chili e non mi si chiudono più i jeans. Urge una dieta.

Ma insomma, passiamo alla parte di vacanze che può interessare anche a voi, gli eventi. Qui sotto trovate le sagre e gli eventi a cui sono stata con il mio giudizio, non si sa mai che vi siano utili l'estate prossima. In generale in Liguria d'estate vengono organizzati tantissimi eventi, anche gratuiti. Per esempio ci sono spesso comici famosi che si esibiscono in piazza, tantissime sagre, fuochi d'artificio, mercatini... il problema è che spesso non vengono pubblicizzati adeguatamente su internet. Conviene addirittura leggere i cartelloni per strada una volta sul posto.

From July 21 to 26 I went to Pietra Ligure in Liguria, hosted by my boyfriend's father. Can you guess my main activity excluding bathing and sunbathing (I'm still chalk white, but now I have freckles)? You guessed it, eating! Focaccia, pizza, stuffed and fried courgette flowers, food festivals... I haven't missed anything. In fact, by the end of May I took 3 kg and I can't button my jeans anymore. I urgently need a diet.

But let's talk of the part of the holidays that may interest to you, the events. Below are the festivals and events where I went with my judgment, maybe they will be useful next summer. Generally in Liguria in summe there are many events, a lot of them free. For example, there are often famous comedians who perform squares, many festivals, fireworks, street markets... the problem is that they often are not adequately advertised on the internet. You should read the posters on the streets once there.

Per il secondo anno sono andata alla sagra del michettin a San Giorgio, vicino ad Albenga, che si conferma la mia preferita perché oltre a tanto cibo diverso ha musica dal vivo (quella trashissima da sagra) bancarelle, una mostra fotografica, una giostra e una piccola esposizione di macchinari ferroviari antichi. Il michettin in sé è una sorta di panino allungato e fritto. Quest'anno nel settore delle bevande c'erano novità interessanti: le bevande liguri a salvia, basilico, chinotto bianco e timo. Le abbiamo assaggiate tutte tranne quella al timo e mi sono parse buonissime, anche se secondo i miei amici dopo un po' stufavano.

For the second year I went to the michettin festival in San Giorgio, near Albenga, which remains my favorite as it has lots of different foods, live music (the super trash food festival kind), stands, a photo exhibition, a carousel and a small exhibition of old railway equipment. The michettin itself is a kind of fried bread. This year in the ther were interesting news in the drink section: sage, basil, bitter orange and white thyme Ligurian drinks. We tried them all except the thyme and I liked them a lot, although according to my friends after a while they got a bit displeasing because of the strong flavours.

Non potevo mancare al mercato dell'usato di Pietra Ligure! Mi piace anche solo passeggiarci per osservare le cose bizzarre in vendita, anche perché certi prezzi sono altissimi, ma ogni tanto si trova un affare.

I could not miss Pietra Ligure flea market! I like to just walk around to see the bizarre things on sale. Many prices are high, but occasionally there is a deal.

Per la prima volta sono stata alla sagra di Sant'Anna a Pietra Ligure e ne sono rimasta delusa. Il cibo era buono, ma niente che non potessi mangiare anche a casa e non c'era nient'altro. L'anno prossimo provo l'apericena: tutti i negozi di alimentari della città mettono fuori bancarelle di cibo da strada. Molte sembravano invitanti, l'anno scorso ho preso dei fugassin (pane fritto) niente male.

For the first time I went to Sant'Anna festival  in Pietra Ligure and I was disappointed. The food was good, but nothing I could not eat at home and there was nothing else. Next year I'd like to try the apericena: all grocery stores in the city put out street food stalls. Many seemed inviting, last year I bought the fugassin (fried bread).

Dopo un anno di assenza, sono tornata anche al palio medievale di Giustenice. Il cibo non è male, ci sono anche cose particolari come i ravioli fritti, le lumache e la farinata fritta. Al posto del giullare dell'anno scorso, che mi hanno detto essere stato pessimo è tornato il mio adorato Giullare Jocoso. Non c'erano gli sbandieratori di Alba, purtroppo, in compenso sono stati introdotti nuovi giochi e le gare di quest'anno è stata emozionantissime, anche se purtroppo un ragazzo si è fatto male ad un ginocchio.

After a year's of absence, I also returned to Giustenice medieval fair. The food is not bad, there are particular things like fried ravioli, snails and fried farinata. There was my beloved jester Giullare Jocoso. This year, unfortunately, there weren't Alba flag wavers, on the other hand there were new games and this year's races were really exciting, although unfortunately a boy hurt his knee.
