Tip-type (Villa Borromea a Solaro e un paio di acquisti)/Tip-type: Villa Borromea in Solaro and a couple of purchases

Domenica 22 Maggio sono stata come membro di Cargo, il mio collettivo di fumettisti, al Tip-type, la fiera dell'autoproduzione editioriale artistica di Inchiòstro Edizioni.

On Sunday, May 22, I went as a member of Cargo, my cartoonists' collective, to Tip-type, the artistic and editorial self publishing convenction by Inchiòstro Edizioni.

Sulla fiera in sé non c'è molto da dire: era carina, ma proprio piccolina.

Portare il gazebo è stata un'ottima idea perché c'era un tempo splendido e altrimenti saremmo stati tutto il giorno sotto il sole (io mi sono scottata anche mettendo la crema 50+).

Abbiamo conosciuto tante nuove persone e io ho anche comprato un paio di regalini per degli amici e per me dei segnalibri fronte-retro molto belli delle gemelle Annalisa e Marina Durante, specializzate in illustrazioni naturalistiche.

There isn't much to say about the convencion itself, as it was nice, but really little.

To bring our gazebo was a great idea because there was a wonderful weather and otherwise we would have stayed all day in the sun (I managed to get sunburned even putting on a 50+ sunscreen).

We met many new people and I also bought a couple of gifts for my friends and for me three beautiful duplex bookmarks bt the twins Annalisa e Marina Durante, specialized in naturalistic illustrations.

La cosa migliore della fiera però era la location: villa Borromea. La residenza nobiliare esisteva già all'inizio del XIX sec. La villa è impostata secondo l'impianto ad U aperto verso la corte nobile. Nel 1854 fu ristrutturata dagli ingegneri Giuseppe Righetti ed Ernesto Bianchi in forme tardo neoclassiche, su commissione della contessa Leopolda Khevvenhüller, vedova del marchese Febo D'adda. La facciata fu arricchita da un portico a tre fornici, attualmente chiuso da vetrate, e da un timpano triangolare nel corpo centrale della villa. Nella parte retrostante venne aperto un giardino all'italiana. Nel 1988, la proprietà passò al Comune che attualmente la utilizza come sede, per la biblioteca e per manifestazioni pubbliche.

Tip-type si teneva metà nella corte nobile e metà nel giardino all'italiana (c'erano anche degli eventi all'interno, ma ne ho visto davvero poco). La corte nobile aveva lungo tutto il perimetro dei pergolati coperti di glicine, che verso fine marzo dovevano essere spettacolari. Il giardino all'italiana era piccolino, ma molto verde e gli alberi di ciliegio erano carichi di frutti (avrei avuto voglia di arrampicarmi per mangiarmeli, ma sarebbe stato poco professionale).

But the best thing was the location of the convenction: villa Borromea. The aristocracy residence already existed at the beginning of the XIX century. The villa has an U shape, open towards the noble court. In 1854 it was restored by the engineers Giuseppe Righetti and Ernesto Bianchi in late neoclassical style, commissioned by Countess Leopolda Khevvenhüller, widow of Marquis Phoebus D'adda. The facade was enriched by a portico with three arches, now closed by glass panes, and a triangular tympanum in the main building. In the back part was created an Italian garden. In 1988, the property passed to the municipality, that currently uses it as it's headquarters, for the library and to host public events.

Tip-type was held half in the noble court and half in the Italian garden (there were also events inside, but I've seen really little of them). The noble court had pergolas covered with wisteria along the perimeter, so towards the end of March it's probably spectacular. The Italian garden was very small, but very green and the cherry trees were laden with fruit (I would have liked to climb the trees and eat them, but it would be unprofessional).

Anche il poco che abbiamo visto di Solaro ci è sembrato molto carino. E' un paese piccolo e senza monumenti davvero importanti, però se si riesce a trovare un evento interessante vale la pena di farci un giro. Si trova a circa mezz'ora di macchina da Milano.

We thought that the little more we have seen of Solaro was very nice. It 'a small town and it doesn't have not really important monuments, but if you can find an interesting event, is worth a visit. It is located about half an hour's drive from Milan.
