"Il diritto di contare" (Hidden Figures) è un film del 2016 diretto da Theodore Melfi. Si basa sul libro biografico del 2016 "Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race" di Margot Lee Shetterly.
Il film racconta la storia vera di tre donne afroamericane che hanno collaborato al programma spaziale della NASA negli anni '60: la matematica, scienziata e fisica Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, responsabile non ufficiale dei calcolatori umani, e l'aspirante ingegnere Mary Jackson.
Il film, nonostante mostri anche qualche sprazzo di vita privata, segue soprattutto la carriera professionale delle tre donne, ostacolata dalla doppia discriminazione di genere e razziale.
Le tre protagoniste sono molto diverse, ma hanno in comune l'intelligenza, la testardaggine e l'amore per il proprio lavoro.
Il film, nonostante la tematica, mantiene un tono decisamente positivo, fra momenti divertenti e scene più commoventi. Da un punto di vista femminista e antirazzista è una visione che dà una grande soddisfazione e mette decisamente di buonumore.
In più i costumi sono davvero belli.

"Hidden Figures" () is a film directed in 2016 by Theodore Melfi. It is based on the biographical book of 2016 "Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race" Margot Lee Shetterly.
The film tells the true story of three African-American women who worked at the NASA space program in the 60s: the mathematic, physic and scientist Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, unofficial head of the human calculators, and the aspiring engineer Mary Jackson.
The film, despite showing some scenes of their private life, follows especially the professional career of the three women, hampered by a double discrimination, sexual and racial.
The three protagonists are very different, but they share a great intelligence, stubbornness and love for their work.
The film, despite the subject, maintains a decidedly positive tone between funny and moving moments. From a feminist and anti-racist point of view is a vision that gives great satisfaction and definitely puts in a good mood.
Plus the costumes are really beautiful.
