Weekend in London: day 1

Last weekend I and my Hairy Half flew to London for the wedding of a friend of ours.
We left on Saturday, the day of the wedding, getting up at 2:00 to take the Ryanair flight of 6:45. It was a risky move, but it went very well because the plane arrived half an hour early. From Stansted Airport, the National Express bus took us straight to the Hall where the wedding was held.
The ceremony was very beautiful, with people from all over the world (our friend is Italian and the groom Taiwanese).

After the wedding we had to run to check in to our airbnb. We actually asked if we could move the check in after the party and our host was so nice to say yes, but his replied arrived when we were already in UK without telephone network, and so we couldn't read the message.
It was the first time we tried airbnb and we were quite happy with it. Given London's prices and the fact that we didn't book so early on an economic level it saved us. In addition our apartment building was well connected, 10 minutes from the Camden Street stop of the Tube and 15 from Camden Town and King's Cross.
It was in a quiet area (apart from the first night, when children in Indian clothes organized a giant  footballgame, which in any case was very picturesque) with small houses and some green.
Our accommodation was a room with double bed, quite small, but bright, clean and comfortable, with a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a table with a chair, an electric boiler, cups and tea. The bathroom was not very modern, but efficient and clean. We were provided towels and in the bathroom there were soap, shower gel, shampoo and hairdryer. There also was free wi-fi and you could use the fridge and the microwave.
The only con where the paper thin walls that forced us to whisper to try not to disturb the people of the other rooms (but I have to say that the problem was reported on the host airbnb page).

Then we ran to the reception which was held at Toconoco, a Japanese cafè in 28 Hertford Road, near the Haggerston underground stop. It was very appealing because it overlooked the Regent's Canal, and for the wedding the walls had been filled with flowers.
There was also a special room for children.

Obviously, being a wedding party, the highlight was the food, served buffet style. We lost the entree because we arrived late, but we ate a lot anyway. We started with a mix of warm food such as tofu, pumpkin, oden, omelette, followed by noodles with sesame sauce, tenpura made at the moment, maki the guest should prepare by themselves with what they liked (brilliant! And there was also the mentaiko I like so much!) and finally the wedding cake and the huge dessert buffet with brownies, cheesecakes, puddings, mochi and more.
All this plus the open bar! In short, fantastic, I really ate too much.

The friends who were getting married are both creatives and she is a photographer, so it was all very nice and original. One of the cool touches was to provide guests with expired olddisposable  analog cameras (the ones with the turning wheel!) to use in turns to photograph the wedding. Who knows what will come out of it!

And as party favours they gave to each guest a polaroid made at the moment with the newlyweds and an authentic Japanese ceramic wrapped in an authentic furoshiki.
It was wonderful.
Since we got up early, at the end of the reception we returned to our airbnb and collapsed.

@Rhiannon: me too, I want to copy the idea! I never heard of using disposable cameras like this, so I was really impressed. I loved the bowl!
My friend had some problem with the cafè staff for the organization of the party, but I think that as a normal costumer it may be a really really nice cafè. As a guest I loved it!
