Halloween in Soncino

Quest'anno per Halloween io e la Pelosa Metà siamo andati a Soncino (in provincia di Cremona), dove si teneva un evento di Halloween nella rocca sforzesca. Il castello è stato costruito nel X secolo e poi posseduto e modificato da varie famiglie fra cui gli Sforza e gli Stampa.

Purtroppo siamo arrivati tardi e non abbiamo potuto visitare la città che è molto bella. All'arrivo abbiamo visto il sole tramontare e accendersi le candele sugli spalti del castello.

This year for Halloween the Hairy Half and I went to Soncino (in the province of Cremona), where was held a Halloween event in the Sforza castle. The castle was built in the tenth century and then owned and altered by several families including the Sforza and the Stampa.

Unfortunately we arrived late and we could not visit the town which is very nice. When we arrived  we saw the sunset and the candles on the terraces of the castle were lit up.

All'entrata abbiamo trovato una coda lunghissima di adulti e bambini, tutti travestiti per Halloween. Per fortuna la fila scorreva abbastanza veloce. Il biglietto d'ingresso costava 6€. Alla sinistra dell'entrata si trovava il banco dei panini con porchetta e salamella (3€) e un fantastico stand di liquori artigianali dove ho preso un bicchiere di sidro veramente delizioso a 3€.

At the entrance we found a long queue of adults and children, all dressed up for Halloween. Luckily the line flowed fast enough. The ticket costed 6€. To the left there was a stand that sold sandwiches with roast pork or sausage (3€) and a fantastic handcrafted liqueurs stand where I got a glass of really delicious cider for 3€.

Nel castello c'era qualche bancarella di accessori e quadernini artigianali, degli allestimenti a tema (ragnatele con ragni di plastica, bottiglie di filtri da strega e quant'altro), una lettrice di carte, uno stand dove provare a scrivere usando una penna d'oca, uno stand di I-ching, un truccabimbi, un grafologo e altro. C'era talmente tanta folla che era difficile entrare in certe stanze, ma l'ambientazione compensava il fastidio.

In the castle there was some stand selling handmade notebooks and accessories, themed exibitions (with spiderwebs complete with plastic spiders, witch bottles and so on), a card reader, a booth where you could try to write using a goose quill, an I-ching stand, a child make up point, a graphologist and much more. There were so many people that it was difficult to enter certain rooms, but the setting made up for the hassle.

Siamo anche riusciti a guardare dagli spalti uno dei vari spettacoli organizzati durante la serata. A dirla tutta non era niente di che, ma l'idea era carina e i bambini sembravano divertirsi.

We also were able to watch from the walls one of the several shows during the evening. To be honest it wasn't so good, but the idea was nice and the kids seemed to enjoy it.

Ce ne siamo andati un paio di orette dopo, dopo aver visitato tutto quello che c'era da vedere, ma non prima di avere assaggiato alla bancarella di liquori artigianali un fantastico idromele fatto con miele di castagno e il chouchen, idromele fermentato di miele con fiori di sambuco e acacia.

We left a couple of hours later, after visiting all there was to see, but not before ggoing back to the liquor stall to try a fantastic mead made with chestnut honey and chouchen, a mead brewed with honey, elderflower and acacia.

Tisane Pompadour: drenante e linea

Visto che mi sono messa a dieta e che sono una fanatica delle tisane non potevo non provare la tisana dietetica e la tisana drenante della Pompadour.

La drenante contiene equiseto, betulla e solidago virga aurea. Non è molto saporita e non posso dire granché nemmeno sull'effetto drenante, visto che mi basta bere una tisana qualsiasi per dover andare in bagno. In più, per un risultato migliore, andrebbe bevuta 2-3 volte al giorno, ma, visto che il sapore non mi ha entusiasmato, non l'ho mai fatto.

La tisana linea contiene mate verde e radice di liquirizia. Il nome è fuorviante, infatti non serve a fare dimagrire, ma a dare un senso di sazietà. L'ho trovata buonissima ed efficace e la prenderò sicuramente ancora.

The bread dress

Durante il mio viaggio in Giappone, ho visto vari abiti stampati con motivi a pane e me ne sono innamorata. Sto pensando alla gonna fatta a mano vista a Koenji, ma soprattutto ai vari capi con toast di Merlot. Visto che costavano troppo per le mie tasche non ho comprato niente (in compenso ho preso una maglietta a marmellate), ma ho deciso di ispirarmi a quelle stampe per realizzare qualcosa.

During my trip to Japan, I saw several clothes with a bread patten and I fell in love with the idea. I'm thinking of the handmade skirt I saw in Koenji, but especially of the various toast patterned clothes by Merlot. As they were too expensive for me, I did not buy anything (at least I got a jams T-shirt), but I decided to take inspiration from those prints to make something.

Ultimamente, la mia soluzione per possedere abiti con stampe particolari, è fare dei timbri con l'adigraf e usarli per stampare la stoffa con dell'inchiostro fatto apposta.

In questo caso ho fatto quattro timbri di dimensioni abbastanza grosse raffiguranti: un croissant, una baguette, del pane a cassetta e un bretzel.

Lately, my solution to own clothes with interesting prints, is to make stamps with adigraf and use them to print fabric with a specific ink.

In this case I made four stamps larger than usual depicting: a croissant, a baguette, a sandwich loaf and a pretzel.

Come capo da stampare ho scelto un vestito che avevo già modificato con l'applicazione di un centrino, ma che mi stava stufando.

As the item to print I chose a dress I was getting tired of, despite the fact that I already altered it with the application of a doily.

Ho deciso di lasciare il centrino e ho proceduto a stampare tenendo sempre lo stesso ordine di timbri, ma scalandoli di una posizione ogni riga per creare un po' di movimento. In questo modo lo stesso tipo di timbri appare allineato in obliquo.

I decided to leave the doily on and I proceeded to print, keeping the same stamps order, but scaling one position for each row to create a little movement. In this way the same type of stamps appear diagonally aligned.

Ed ecco il risultato indossato. Ne sono proprio contenta! Non mi dispiacerebbe stampare altri capi con questi timbri, anche se ancora non so cosa. Magari una gonna, o il colletto di una camicia. Sarebbe una stampa perfetta anche per una borsa di tela di quelle che si usano per fare la spesa.

And here's the result worn. I'm so happy of it! I would like to print other clothes with these stamps, although I still don't know of what kind. Maybe a skirt, or the collar of a blouse. It would be a perfect print for a canvas bag of the kind you use for grocery shopping.

Ad Ottobre le foglie hanno cominciato a cambiare colore. Ha piovuto tanto, ma c'è stata anche qualche bella giornata.

In October, the leaves began to change color. It rained a lot, but there was also some beautiful day.

Il lavoro ha cominciato ad entrare nel pieno. Mi sono stancata tantissimo, ma ho anche avuto tante soddisfazioni. La più grande è stata l'uscita in edicola a fine mese di Julienne, una nuova fighissima rivista di cucina a cui collaboro come illustratrice.

I had a lot of work to do. I was really tired, but I also got a lot of satisfactions. The biggest was the release at the end of the month of Julienne, a new super cool cooking magazine in which I work as an illustrator.

Nonostante il carico di lavoro, il secondo weekend del mese sono riuscita ad andare a Castagne, streghe e dintorni, una manifestazione che si tiene ogni anno nella piccola città di Rovenna, sulle colline attorno a Como, tutta decorata a tema halloween per l'occasione. La manifestazione include eventi e bancarelle alimentari e di oggettistica. Mi è piaciuta molto e spero di riuscire a tornarci l'anno prossimo.

Despite the workload, the second weekend of the month I managed to go to Castagne, streghe e dintorni (Chestnut, witches and surroundings), an event held every year in the small town of Rovenna, on the hills around Como, all decorated with a Halloween theme for the occasion . The event includes activities and food and giftware stalls. I liked it very much and I hope to go there again next year.

Ho approfittato dei film a 3€ durante la festa del cinema per vedere "Hotel Transylvania 2" che ho trovato adorabile.

Il 21 ho cavalcato l'onda della frenesia generale con una maratona di "Ritorno al Futuro".

I took advantage of the 3€ films during the cinema week to see "Hotel Transylvania 2" which I found adorable.

On the 21th I rode the frenzy wave with a "Back to the Future" marathon.

Ad Halloween io e la Pelosa Metà siamo andati ad un evento a tema che si teneva nel castello di Soncino. Era affollatissimo, ma è stato molto carino.

For Halloween the Hairy Half and I went to an event held in Soncino castle. There was a huge crowd, but it was very nice.

Il mese scorso pensavo che mi fosse passato il blocco creativo, ma ad Ottobre ho fatto davvero poco, complice anche la mancanza di tempo.

Ho stampato delle scarpe di tela, fatto un paio di orecchini, modificato un vestito e fatto dei timbri con cui ho stampato un altro vestito.

Last month I thought I overcame my creative block, but in October I made very little, also because of the lack of time.

I printed canvas shoes, made a pair of earrings, altered a dress and made some stamps with which I printed another dress.

A metà mese è scaduto il mio divieto autoimposto di shopping e ho fatto un giro da Tiger, finendo per lasciarci metà portafoglio come al solito.

In mid-month my self-imposed shopping ban expired and I went to Tiger, leaving half of my wallet there as usual.

Ho mangiato in un paio di bei ristoranti nuovi. Il primo è Baobab Organic Burger, un posto di Milano specializzato in hamburger gourmet, dove ho mangiato un ottimo hamburger stagionale con porcini, fonduta di formaggio e noci. Il secondo è l'albergo Edelweiss a Crodo, in Piemonte, dove ho partecipato alla favolosa cena a base di selvaggina che si tiene lì una volta all'anno.

La dieta procede, ma mooolto lentamente. A Novembre voglio darci dentro in modo da perdere il peso restante prima che comincino i pranzi natalizi.

I ate at a couple of nice new restaurants. The first is Baobab Organic Burger, a place in Milan that is specialized in gourmet burgers, where I ate a great seasonal burger with mushrooms, melted cheese and walnuts. The second is hotel Edelweiss in Crodo, Piedmont, where I attended the fabulous wild game meat dinner held there once a year.

My diet goes on, but sooo slowly. In November I want to crank it up so to lose the remaining weight before the Christmas lunches begin.

Per Halloween alla fine ho scelto un look a tema, ma relativamente sobrio, perché ho partecipato per la prima volta ad un evento nella rocca di Soncino e non sapevo se fosse il caso di mettere un costume. Una volta lì ho visto che la maggior parte delle persone ne indossava uno, quindi è stato un po' un peccato non aver approfittato dell'occasione.

For Halloween I chose a themed, but relatively sober, look because I participated for the first time at the event held the castle of Soncino and I didn't know if I should wear a costume. Once there I saw that most of the people wore one, so it was a bit of a shame that I didn't took advantage of that opportunity.

Quest'anno quando ho deciso di fare una vignetta a tema per il blog ho provato a pensare alla cosa che mi spaventava di più e subito mi è venuta in mente la dieta! Più che una vignetta di Halloween sembra una vignetta della mia vecchia serie Diet Comics (che trovate cercando qui), per fortuna con uno stile migliore, visto che è passato un po' di tempo.

This year when I decided to do a themed cartoon for the blog I tried to think about the thing that scared me the most and I immediately came up with diet! More than an Halloween cartoon it looks like one of my old Diet Comics series (you can find it searching here), luckily with a better style, since some time passed.
