Phantorama

Dopo essere capitata per caso ad un loro concerto e averli stalkerati un po' sui media, ho finalmente comprato il primo e per ora unico CD dei Phantorama, "Phantorama".

I Phantorama sono un gruppo di Milano che autodefinisce la sua musica come Fresh Rock Retrò.  I membri sono Marco Cefis, Marco Torrese e Pask Lauriola, che suonano basso,  tastiere e batteria.

Si sono formati all’inizio del 2012 e nel 2014 hanno vinto la sezione nord Italia del MirtoRock (ME sul palco con gli Appaloosa) e il Pantera Rock Festival a Bientina (PI). Nello stesso anno hanno aperto il concerto dei Marlene Kuntz al Farcisentire Festival.

Il loro CD è prodotto dalla Ikebana Records. A livello estetico ho trovato la tricromia, lo stile e il font molto belli, come anche il disegno di copertina (per quanto uno scheletro sia tutt'altro che originale).

Di musica capisco poco o niente, posso solo dire che la loro mi piace molto, quindi riporto la definizione che ne scrive il giorno stesso. L'assenza di chitarre e il basso distorto sono l’elemento identificativo del progetto musicale. I tre cercano di fondere generi musicali apparentemente distanti, fra cui la canzone italiana, lo stoner, lo swing e il rock duro.

Dei testi mi è piaciuta l'ironia nera e l'oscillare fra temi come la realtà scoraggiante del mondo del lavoro di oggi, il suicidio, la pazzia, e le favole, in particolare "Alice attraverso lo specchio" e "La parata degli elefanti rosa" di "Dumbo", unica cover del CD.

After I attended by chance one of their concerts and stalkd them a bit through the media, I finally bought the first and so far only CD by Phantorama, "Phantorama".

Phantorama are a group from Milan who calls its music Rock Fresh Retro. Its members are Marco Cefis, Marco Torrese and Pask Lauriola, playing bass, keyboards and drums.

The group was created at the beginning of 2012 and in 2014 it won the northern Italy section of MirtoRock (ME on stage with Appaloosa) and Pantera Rock Festival in Bientina (PI). In the same year they opened the Marlene Kuntz concert at Farcisentire Festival.

Their CD is produced by Ikebana Records. Aesthetically speaking, I found the tri-color, the style and font very beautiful, as well as the cover design (though a skeleton is anything but original).

I understand little or nothing about music, I can only say that I like them a lot, so I'll report the definition that the group itself gives of its sound. The absence of guitars and the distorted bass are the key element of its musical project. The three artists try to blend seemingly distant musical genres, including Italian songs, stoner, swing and hard rock.

Regarding the texts I liked their black humor and the oscillation between issues such as the daunting reality of today's working world, suicide, insanity, and fables, in particular "Alice through the looking glass" and the "Pink Elephants on Parade" from "Dumbo", the only cover of the CD.
