The Abyss (Orson Scott Card)

L'ho letto solo perché l'ho avuto in prestito e perché conoscevo già l'autore, infatti in genere i libri tratti dai film sono abbastanza tremendi.

"The Abyss" is a book written by Orson Scott Card, based on the screenplay of the film by James Cameron. Orson Scott Card is famous for the Ender series, wrote the saga of the seventh son and also worked on Monkey Island, writing the insults used during the duels. James Cameron, in turn, is the director of The Terminator, Aliens, Titanic and Avatar.
I read it just because I had borrowed it and because I already knew the author, in fact, generally novelizazions aren't so great.
Instead I loved this one!
It tells about a team working in a futuristic submarine oil platform, which is charged, with the help of some SEALS soldiers, to retrieve a US submarine that sank near the Cayman pit in a mysterious accident.
But from the depths of the pit of the emerges something unexpected...
Despite being a very exciting book with breathtaking action, its center are human relationships and in particular the one between Bud, the foreman of the team, and Lindsay, the designer of the platform and his ex-wife. The characters, if not 100% credible are extremely interesting and well built, perfectly consistent with their background.
It's this human side that makes the book so interesting and gives it realism despite all the strange events it describes.
