L'ultimo cacciatore di streghe/The Last Witch Hunter

"The Last Witch Hunter" is an urban fantasy movie, directed by Breck Eisner and starring Vin Diesel, released for Halloween 2015.
In this film, Diesel plays the role of a medieval witch-hunter, who, during the fight with the queen of the witches, was cursed and become immortal. So he continued to fight black magic until today, supported by a religious order created for this single purpose. In New York, a major new threat is preparing and it will be up to him, Kaulder, to deal with it.
The depiction of witches is not bad and there are a couple of very suggestive locations.
The plot holds up surprisingly well until shortly after the middle of the film, then it becomes the jumble of nonsense that I expected from the beginning. I can not say too much to avoid spoilers, but there are big logical holes (suffice it to say that Kaulder hits a wall with a sword to break it, that if only one minion among thousands dies the plan of the antagonist will fail, that the ultimate weapon is hidden in a safe). Plus, the main female character (Rose Leslie, who was Ygritte in Game of Thrones) becomes attached to the protagonist in a predictable, but completely irrational, way.
When the protagonist is Vin Diesel you can expect an absurd coefficient of unnaturally spectacular fights and in this the film doesn't disappoint. It sufficies to tell about the scene in which he shoots a monster several times and it goes on unperturbed, then he hits it with his head and the monster explodes. Or og his obstinacy to use two-handed swords as throwing weapons.
To me it's one of those trash movies that you go to see to laugh with friends. If you expect a fantasy good product, or even a sensible plot forget it.
It seems that if the film is successful it will have a follow up.
