Hotel Transylvania 2

"Hotel Transylvania 2" is a 2015 3D animation U.S.A. film that is the sequel of "Hotel Transylvania", released in 2012 (which I reviewed here). Since I found the first film very nice, also because it faced difficult issues in a light way, I couldn't miss the second, and perhaps I liked it even more than the first.
SPOILER, IF YOU DIDN'T WATCH THE FIRST FILM DON'T READ (and recover it!): Seven years after their meeting, the vampire Mavis and the human Johnny marry and have a child, Dennis. For the first 5 years you can't tell if a child is a human or a vampire, but Dennis shows no sign of being a monster and Mavis becomes overprotective of him. Johnny, although he loves his son, feels neglected and finds that Mavis exaggerated. The real protagonist, however, is Dracula, who wants his grandson to be a vampire and is willing to do anything to arouse the bloodsucker that is in him. Added to this there is the threat of an ultraconservative great-grandfather who despises relationships between humans and monsters and Johnny's human family, puzzled by his choices. Poor Dennis is therefore at the heart of the fears and expectations of the adults.
As you can see, the film deals again with themes that are difficult, yet extremely common, and does it with a rare sensitivity. It may rather be a film for adults than for children, as it analyzes in depth the fears and idiosyncrasies of the first concerning their sons and solves rather simplistically the fear of children of not being able to live up to the expectations of their family.
Dracula once again is the only character that really evolves, but he is charismatic enough to drive the whole movie. The final almost ruins his growth path, but, as it is announced from the beginning, is cathartic.
The character design and animations are beautiful as in the first film, the songs are better or more focused and the gags are very effective. In the closing credits there are no longer the beautiful studies of the setting shown in the previous film, but there are still some very nice gags.
I absolutely recommend this film, all the more because it is perfect for tomorrow that is Halloween.
