Gelati day 2: Genova, Arenzano

The next morning we woke up early and we went to Castellaro bakery in Torralba, where we bought focaccia (their is my absolute favorite) and biscuits for lunch.

Then we went to Genoa to the Gelati Fanzine Festival. The event was hosted in the Commenda of Prè, close to Genoa Principe Station. It dates back to 1180 and consists of two overlapped churches in Romanesque style (the top one is still a place of worship) and of the Commenda itself, formed by the convent and the hospitable. The Commenda served as a maritime station on the routes to the Holy Land and as an hospital for the pilgrims at the time of the Crusades and later for the sick and poor people of the city. Today it is part of the Sea Museum and hosts exhibitions.
I found it really beautiful! In the back yard there also was a giant bougainvillea that climbed upon an abandoned hotel.
In short, a really nice place!

There is not much to say about the rest of the day, we didn't organize well the shifts so we basically spent it all at the stand, also because of a friend of ours who was supposed to reach us from the morning, and took the wrong train (it seems that bad luck with transportation was the founding element of this trip...) and reached us when the exhibition was already closing.
But the exhibition itself was very beautiful and colorful and I visited it several times, even if I postponed the shopping to the following day.

In the evening, after a quick grocery shopping, I and another guy of the group decided that as we were in a sea town we had to go swimming. The others didn't want to follow us because they were too cold and tired.

In the evening we spoiled ourselves with a dinner at the restaurant Parodi in Arenzano. I took trofie made with chestnut flour with prawns and orange, really awesome. I accompanied them with the red wine of the house, that was quite strong. After dinner we had ice cream at the ice cream shop Gelateria Roma (I choose violet and dark chocolate) and then walked to our house where we collapsed.
