The Host (film)

The Host is a 2013 U.S.A film of based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer, the author of the famous urban fantasy tetralogy Twilight.
The story is set in a future where Earth has been invaded by symbiotes aliens who take possession of human bodies. Only a small group of human resists, including the protagonist, Melanie, but at the beginning of the film she is captured and infested by an alien who calls herself Wanderer. But the personality of Melanie, instead of disappearing as those of humans usually do, persists in her body starting a difficult forced cohabitation. The focus of the story, however, are romantic relationships, made difficult by the coexistence of two personalities in the same body.
The film is very faithful to the book. I found both nice, but not exceptional. Compared to standard science fiction movies there is little action and the dialogue scenes between the two protagonists tend to be static. Compared to standard romantic movies, instead, there is little fanservice, so I can understand why the reviews were not that great.
For me it is promoted (moreover Saoirse Ronan, who plays the main character, has a really interesting face), but be sure to know what you'll get if you decide to see it: aquiet and full of good feelings and inner dialogues romantic sci-fi movie. Not really something suited for everyone.

I've never seen this movie. I have the book but it bored me and I never finished it. Was quite a fan of the Twilight saga but not this one.:/

@Pepperoni: I preferred the Twilight saga too but I didn't dislike this book either.
