The Kane Chronicles X Percy Jackson (Rick Riordan)

Of course I could not resist and I read "The Son of Sobek", "The Staff of Serapis" and "The Crown of Ptolemy", the three shorts stories that are both the follow up of "The Kane Chronicles" and a crossover with the author's series starring Percy Jackson.
"The Kane Chronicles" is based on the idea that Egyptians myths and gods are real and live among us. The protagonists are human beings able to use magic and sometimes channel the divine power. "Percy Jackson" is based on a similar idea, which is that Greek myths and gods are real and live among us, but the protagonists are demigods.
These three stories as well as bringing together the protagonists (Percy and Annabeth and Carter and Sadie), mix the two cosmologies. "The Son of Sobek" is told from Carter's point of view, "The Staff of Serapis" from Annabeth's and "The crown of Ptolemy" from Percy's. The result is not bad and the meeting of the protagonists with different worlds allows rather funny scenes and comments, but I felt there was something forced, especially in "The Son of Sobek." I think the quality of the narrative rises from one story to the next.
The three stories form a single plot that has an ending, but the last is located after both sagas and is a possible introduction of a new saga that mixes the first two.

I'm not yet 100% convinced by the mix of the two universes because when it comes to a single kind of gods and myths the suspension of disbelief is easier. Still, the stories are nice, although I liked them less the individual sagas, but a crossover saga woult risk to be beyond the level of the first ones (that wasn't so high, except for the humor).
