East Market

C'era tantissima gente, come prevedibile prevalentemente hipster .

Last Sunday I went to the East Market of Milan. It's a market inspired by those of East London, where privates can sell what they want. The venue is a traditional engineering company dating back to World War II, in via Ventura 14, Lambrate. It was divided into three sections, one dedicated to used (or "vintage") stuff, one to creative stalls and one to food. The admission was free and in every section there was a DJ who put on loud music. There was a lot of people, as expected mostly hipsters.

The vintage section disappointed mea bit: there were nice and interesting things (as well as many trinkets), but the prices were very high compared with an offer too similar to that of flea stalls. It's true that the merchandise was more selected, that maybe there was a higher quality control, but it was not enough to make me want to buy knowing that with some research and a bit of luck I might find the same things for a tenth of the price at flea markets.
In theory, East Market also provided for the possibility of swapping, but unfortunately I could not understand how it worked.

The section I found most interesting was the one dedicated to creativity. My favorite stall was a hand-made clothes ones with cute prints and original cuts. Unfortunately they were out of my budget, but I took the business card to keep me updated. Only at home I realized that it was the wrong one ...

I also really liked the hot air baloons printed T-shirts by Giulia Nava...

... and the recycled fabric overalls by Chez Blanchette.

But the real reason I went to the East Market was to finally meet Vale of Le idee della Vale! She's cuter and nicer than it appears on the blog and she even gave me a gift! If you never saw her creations, go to check them on the online store because they are adorable.
At her stall I also found the perfect gift for a friend of mine (that I can not show for obvious reasons).
