Il viaggio di Arlo/The Good Dinosaur

"The Good Dinosaur" is a 2015 animated Pixar film.
The story is set in a world alternative to ours, where the asteroid that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs did not hit our planet and dinosaurs became intelligent and developed a Neolithic culture (agriculture, livestock, construction of huts and artifacts). At the same time humans managed to evolve too. In the film they aren't analyzed too much, but they seem to have a primitive culture of some sort (they are dressed in skins).
The protagonist is Arlo, the youngest of a family of farmers brontosaurus, who, with his fears, creates difficulties for his family. The meeting with the parasite that steals food to his farm, a human child, will precipitate the situation, but at the same time will force Arlo to embark on a journey that will force him to grow.
The thing I liked most about this film are the wonderful backgrounds, who are almost photographically realistic despite being entirely digital.
I also loved the originality of the t-rex characters compared to their usual representation (although I'm a bit offended no one draws them with feathers...).
As I had already guessed from the trailer, but I was hoping wasn't true, it is a movie designed for a very young audience. In fact it is a very simple coming of age story, without the depth of Pixar films like "Up", but also "Inside Out". For a child who hasn't seen many animated films it can be a wonderful story (one near me in the cinema was so taken by the story that burst into tears), but for an adult, as well as being very linear, the plot has something banal: it sometimes recalls "The Lion King" and "White Fang". It seemed almost a wasted opportunity because the parallel world in which "Arlo" is set is brilliant. In spite of it, it can be appreciated even by an adult, oppositely to other titles (I'm thinking in particular of "Cars").
I am probably not the only one who thinks this way because it is the Pixar film that earned less from "A Bug's Life" onwards. This is probably also due to problems on the production level: in the beginning the film was directed by Bob Peterson, who had the basic idea for the story, but he was replaced by Peter Sohn in August 2013. In addition to the change of direction there have been other substitutions in the team, including the dismissal of a number of people, and there were many delays.
The film is preceded by the animated short film "Sanjay's Super Team", which sees the cultural crisis of a child torn between his passion for American-style superheroes and his father efforts to teach him the hindu religion. As the main movie, I found it nice, but not memorable, although I found the religion theme interesting, as usually people prefer not to touch it for fear of negative reactions.
