Hunger Games

The second film of the Hunger Games saga intrigued me enough to make me want to read the books, written by Suzanne Collins from 2008 to 2010.
Everyone now knows the story: in the future north America has become a confederation of 12 districts subject to Capitol City, which dominates them, as well as by military force through a reality, the Hunger Games, in which a boy and a girl from each district must face the other in an arena and kill them until there is only one winner. The protagonist, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to replace her beloved sister, selected to participate in the games.
Although I had many prejudices, the first book thrilled me and I liked the story (the first film is very faithful to the book). The main character thinks like a normal person and not as a superhero or a crybaby. The other characters and in particular Peeta are less realistic, but they hold up and the plot has a good rhythm and works.
The passionate desire to know the rest of the story lasted until about halfway through the second book, that has the relevant defect of half telling facts I would have preferred to be shown. From there, there is a continuous worsening and I found the second half of the third book absurd. The psychology of the characters we already know becomes so complicated to be weird and that of the adult characters who hold the power is absolutely not realistic and as a result moves them to do incomprehensible actions that make the story inconsistent.
So the saga in general, unfortunately, didn't convince me even though I really liked the first book. Too bad the final remains partially open.
I'm curious to see if the last two films (there will be 4 in total) will be better than the books.
Have you read this saga? What do you think of it?

Vedo però troppo fandom in giro.

li ho letti tutti!

I read the first book, and that was enough for me (I felt like any further explanation would just ruin the story for me, and besides, I don't usually like YA books much). It was okay, I guess. My bf has read all of them, and apparently I'm not missing anything, so... ^^;;

Also, I groaned when I realised there was going to be FOUR films? Why not just *three*?? It's like the Hobbit all over again...

@Rihannon: I love YA! I agree with your boyfriend.
I think the four film are more Twilight like. The hobbit would have been easy to make into one single film, but here the last book is quite thick and I think at a film level would be better made in two films
