"Parco delle cave" (pit park) is the second largest park in Milan. It is located in the district of Baggio and was created in the 90s to rehabilitate the degraded area in which there were four quarries dating back to the '20s.
Today it encompasses four lakes, forests, waterways, urban gardens, an agricultural area with meadows and four farmhouses, of which the most famous is the Linterno farmhouse that dates back to the Middle Ages, a period when it was also a hostel entrusted to the Templars.

In addition to hosting a picturesque landscape, the park is equipped with botanical trails, urban gardens, areas dedicated to various sports and hobbies (it is is frequented by fishermen and motor boats modelers) and it has a playground and a bocce court.
Unfortunately, the park is likely to be damaged by the current path of the "waterway" project for Expo 2015, but the citizens are mobilizing for its protection (you can find the petition here).

I took advantage of the beautiful trip to the park to have a rare open air outfit photo took. I haven't had the courage to take my jacket (with hobbit brooch) off, but I am sure that you will be forgiving (it's cold!).
