Bridget Jones's Baby

"Bridget Jones's Baby" is a 2016 film, the third dedicated to single heroine created by Helen Fielding, after "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason", released in 2004, and "Bridget Jones's Diary", released in 2001.
While the first two movies roughly followed the storyline of the corresponding book, this is completely different from the third and (so far) last volume of the series, "Mad about the boy" (which I reviewed here).
Comparing the plot of the film with that of the book, and considering that Helend Fielding took part in the screenplay, I would say that the film is nothing but a prequel to the events of the third novel, which could become the fourth film of the series.
In "Bridget Jones's Baby", Bridget is 43 years old, is single and is a television producer. Following two one-night stands with two different men she finds herself pregnant, but she doesn't know who the father is.
In essence the film repeats the usual triangle, this time, with Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and, instead of the usual Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), the American Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey).
It is a light film, which, despite purposing overused situations, still manages to be funny and to leave a feeling of satisfaction.
When I went to watch it the audience was really hyped up: it applauded as one of the male leads took his shirt off and clapped in the end. It seemed to be watching a "Twilight" for middle-age people. Yet I could not help but share the enthusiasm, the film was really nice.
