La Bella e la Bestia/Beauty and the Beast

"Beauty and the Beast" is a 2017 film directed by Bill Condon and written by Evan Spiliotopoulos and Stephen Chbosky. It is a live-action remake of the 1991 Disney animated film, which was an adaptation of the fairy tale by the French writer Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, who lived in the eighteenth century.
The film is very faithful to the 1991 original, with very few changes. Among these, what I found remarkable was the introduction of the first openly gay character in a Disney movie: LeFou, who also becomes less stupid and more moral than in the original.
The only other positive note about the film, compared to the animated version, is the visual sector that is shamelessly Baroque to the smallest detail.
I really liked the Maurice by Kevin Kline and the handsome and evil Gaston by Luke Evans (while, once again, the Beast is more fascinating as a beast than as an human being - and indeed Belle asks him to grow a beard!).
In short, I think there wasn't the need for this film (if only Disney committed to new projects rather than doings remakes!), but it's beautiful anyway.
