Fuga da Deponia

Source

"Deponia" is a 2012 point and click adventure by Daedalic Entertainment, released originally in German and afterwards in English. It's the first of a trilogy that continues with "Chaos on Deponia", released the same year, and "Goodbye Deponia", released in 2013. Although it should have been concluded with the third chapter, in 2016 was released a fourth "Deponia Doomsday" which, according to Daedalic, should have a plot  parallel to that of the main story.
It's set on Deponia, a world covered in trash (in fact its name comes from "deponie", which means "dump" in German). The protagonist is Rufus, a guy who dreams of escaping from Kuvaq, his small town, to go Elysyum, a super technological world without junk.
The plot is rather simple, almost trivial, what makes it really special are the characters: Rufus infact is an arrogant pompous guy, who believes to be a genius, but causes a lot of disasters, and no one in the city can stand him anymore. So we meet his angry ex-girlfriend Toni, his friend-enemy Wenzel, the doctor-fireman-policeman Gizmo and many other characters, all well characterized, although many appear on the screen for a short time.
The game is divided into three parts corresponding to three different settings. The gameplay is rather simple, but some puzzles are quite complicated. Despite this, they are all perfectly rational (even some in an absurd "Monkey Island" style logic), which for me is a big plus.
The character design is funny and well done and also makes up for the the animations that sometimes are a bit stiff.
I only felt a bit sorry for the open ending, but it was to be expected since it is the first chapter of a saga.
I loved it, I didn't have so much fun playing since when I played "Monkey Island 3" and I'm looking forward to playing the next chapter to see how the plot will go on. I absolutely recommend it!
