Cacciatori di pterodattili nella città dorata/The Pterodactyl Hunters in the Gilded City (Brendan Leach)

Qui potete leggerne alcune pagine in anteprima.

For Christmas my friends gave me "The Pterodactyl Hunters in the Gilded City", a 2010 comic by the New York author Brendan Leach, winner of the Xeric Award in 2010 and of the Ignatz Award as "Best Comic" in 2012.
It is set in the Big Apple, in1904. But in this version of the reality, New York is infested by dangerous pterodactyls. In order to exterminate them, were estabilished observers and teams hunting armed with harpoons on hot-air balloons.
In this bizarre world is the story of two brothers of Irish origin, Eamon and Declan, respectively the eldest, the most famous pterodactyl hunter from the city, idolized by his ex-hunter father, and the younger, who is an operator of a control tower, insecure and tormented by an inferiority complex.
It seems that only a single pterodactyl remains and the fight in the skies will bring to light the family tensions.
In fact, I already told you too much about the plot, because it doesn't happen much more. But the wonder of this comic is not so much in what is shown, even if the setting is awesome, but in the unsaid, starting from the open ending, in an extremely refined game of unspoken feelings.
