Jessica Jones

"Marvel's Jessica Jones", is a US 2015 television series developed by Melissa Rosenberg, based on the homonymous character of Marvel comics. It is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and together with "Daredevil", "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist" converges in the crossover "The Defenders".
The protagonist is Jessica Jones, a private investigator with a supernatural force. A couple who hires her to find their missing daughter forces her to face her worst nightmare again.
If so far among the TV series dedicated to Marvel and DC superheroes I liked more the less serious ones, finding the darkest ones not really credible, Jessica Jones was a welcome exception.
In fact, "Jessica Jones" is a classic superheroes series as "The Chronicles of Ice and Fire" is a classically fantasy series. In fact there are no people in tight-fitting undergarments who elect themselves champions of justice, and superpowers have an almost irrelevant role in the plot. On the other hand it deals with issues such as rape, drugs, alcoholism and post-traumatic stress syndrome.
The protagonist herself is anything but an emblem of virtue, she has a bad character and mistreats all those who care for her, drinks too much and is violent.
The tone is noir, starting from the private eye protagonist to the music, something that I really appreciated and that further differentiates this series from the others with a superhero theme.
Plus "Jessica Jones" is feminist in its way. Not only because it passes the Bechdel test, but also because of the way it deals with issues such as abortion, for how the female characters deal with their romantic relationships, and so on. I also appreciated the presence of homosexual characters.
This series is certainly among the best I've seen this year.
