Usamimi tutorial

Difficoltà: facile. Richieste capacità basiche di cucito o utilizzo della macchina da cucire.
Necessario: avanzi di jeans (o di una stoffa a caso che vi piace), necessario per cucire

Ho deciso di farmi delle usamimi con la gamba di un paio di jeans tagliati, per imitare quelle di H&M che mi piacevano molto.
Per prima cosa ho preso la misura con un paio di usamimi che avevo già fatto. Voi potete annodarvi una sciarpa o un nasto in testa per vedere che lunghezza serve perchè vengano delle "orecchie" della lunghezza giusta.

I decided to use the leg of some cutted pair of jeans to make usamimi, to imitate the H&M's ones I liked.
First I measured the lenght of the stripe of jeans to cut using a pair of usamimi I already made. You can tie a scarf or a ribbon around your head to measure the lenght you need and have "ears" of the right lenght.

Io ho dovuto farle in tre pezzi perchè la gamba di jeans non era abbastanza lunga.

I had to sew together three pieces of fabric because the jeans'leg wasn't long enough.

Poi ho piegato in due in verticale la striscia di stoffa ottenuta e ho stondato le orecchie. Le usamimi che vanno di più però sono a punta.

Then I folded in two in vertical the stripe of fabric and I cutted the ends round. Classic usamimi are pointy, though.

A questo punto non resta che cucire il tutto sempre piegato in due a rovescio lasciando un buco per rigirarle (meglio in mezzo, così una volta indossate non si vede la cucitura esterna).
Se volete delle usamimi classiche prima di cucire il buco dovete infilare un filo metallico che corra per tutta la fascia in modo che le orecchie stiano in piedi. Io le ho fatte senza perchè solo l'idea mi dà fastidio e ho usato apposta una stoffa spessa (un'altra idea è imbottirle un po'), ma quelle di Pimkie avevano un filo molto malleabile e quasi morbido. Chissà di cos'era fatto.
Ovviamente potete aggiungere decorazioni varie come pizzo, bottoni, fiori di stoffa...

The last step is to sew the usamimi, still folded in two, inside out, leaving a hole to turn them the right way (it's better in the middle so the outer sewing is invisible when the usamimi are worn).
If you want classic usamimi, before sewing the hole you have to insert a metallic thread long as all the usamimi, so that the ears can stand. I didn't because I think it would annoy me and I used a thick fabric to avoid the thread (another idea is to stuff them a bit), but Pimkie's have a soft thread, I wanna know what is made of.

Finito! Sembrano più un fiocco che delle orecchie da coniglio, ma mi piace l'effetto rockabilly.
Finished! More ribbon-shaped then bunny ears shaped, tough, but I like the rockabilly vibe.
