Come promesso ho visto il film "I guardiani della notte", tratto dalla prima storia contenuta nell'omonimo romanzo di Sergej Luk'janenko. Come il libro da cui è tratto, è parte di una serie più lunga e infatti purtroppo non è autoconclusivo.
La trama si prende delle libertà rispetto al racconto originale, utilizzando parti che compaiono più avanti e dando più importanza a personaggi che saranno particolarmente importanti con il proseguire della saga. Ci sono alterazioni della trama anche più grosse, che però nel contesto non stonano, bisogna vedere come saranno portate avanti nei film successivi.
Nonostante le modifiche alla storia originale non inficino la godibilità del film, c'è qualche scena che poteva essere fatta decisamente meglio (scritto in bianco per chi odia gli spoiler): si calca un po'troppo sullo pseudovampirismo di Anton e i dialoghi della scena in cui va a trovare Svetlana non hanno alcun senso logico.
Visivamente è decisamente riuscito, pieno di belle trovate, con qualche truzzata ogni tanto (il supercattivo, che nel libro è sempre in giacca e cravatta qui porta una canotta nera di rete e una specie di cappellino fascista, WTF???).

As promised I watched "Night Watch", the film inspired by the first story of the homonymus novel bySergej Luk'janenko. As the book on which it's based, is part of a longer series, and unfortunately it isn't self-contained.
The plot takes some liberties with the original story, using parts that appear later and giving more importance to characters which will be particularly important in the follow up. There are even bigger changes in texture, but in the context they don't clash, we'll see how they will be handled in next films.
Despite the changes in the original story don't make the film less enjoyable, there's some scenes that could be done much better (written in white for those who hate spoilers): there's too much morbid attention on the fact that Anton drinks blood and dialogues in the scene in which he talks to Svetlanadid not find any logical sense.
Visually it is really good, full of nice ideas, with some style slips (the villain, in the book is always in a suit, here wears a black tank top made of net and a kind of fascist hat, WTF?).

The Buffy effect

Quando ho visto la prima puntata di Buffy era già passato parecchio tempo dalla sua effettiva realizzazione e la prima cosa che ho notato sono stati i vestiti totalmente fuori moda con pantaloni e gonne dalla vita altissima e top corti che lasciavano fuori più o meno la zona stomaco.
Ora sembra che l'alta moda stia riproponendo questa combinata. L'immagine di destra viene dalla campagna pubblicitaria della collezione primavera/estate di Versace. E ho visto che alcune fashion blogger, per esempio Zhi Zhi di Sweetheart Fashion, sono entusiaste della cosa.
Credo che questa tendenza per il momento non farà presa sulla massa, ma solo sulle fashioniste più incallite perchè è troppo radicalmente diversa dalle forme che andavano l'anno scorso.
A me pare terrificante (oltre che apportatrice di disturbi intestinali), ma probabilmente non sono abbastanza in.
Voi che ne pensate?

When I watched the first episode of Buffy had already passed some time from when it was made and the first thing I noticed was that the clothes were totally out of fashion, with high waist pants and skirts and short and tops that left a stripe of naked skin more or less in the stomach area .
Now it seems that haute couture is proposing this combo. The right image is from Versace advertising campaign for spring/summer. And I saw that some fashion bloggers, for example Zhi Zhi of Sweetheart Fashion, are enthusiastic about the thing.
I think this trend won't catch the masses yet, but only the most inveterate fashionistas, because it is too radically different from the shapes that were trendy last year.
It seems terrifying (and bringer of intestinal disorders) to me, but probably I'm not trendy enough.
What do you think?

A proposito di Versace, ho notato che hanno lanciato un anello a forma di stella marina. Per chi fosse interessato, ce n'è uno anche nella nuova collezione di H&M, che sicuramente costa meno e secondo me ha anche una forma più carina. A me piacciono un sacco i gioielli a stella marina per l'estate, quindi un pensierino ce lo sto facendo, anche se ho deciso che non devo comprare più niente. Chissà se riesco a fabbricarmelo?

About Versace, I noticed that in their new collection there's a a starfish shaped ring. For those interested, there's also one in H&M's new collection, which is surely cheaper and I think has also a nicer shape. I like starfish jewelry for summer, so there I craving it a bit, but I decided that I shouldn't buy anything anymore. I wonder if I'm able to make it?

Ecco come ho sistemato due dei capi che ho comprato usati due sabati fa. Ho cucito all'indentro un pezzo di manica del vestito e ho accorciato i pantaloni rosa, a cui ho poi aggiunto della passamaneria con i pon pon sulle tasche. Non è molto, ma fa la differenza.

Here's how I fied two pieces of clothing that I bought used two Saturdays ago. I sewed a piece of sleeve of the dress inward and I shortened and pink pants, on which I added pom poms trim on the pockets. Not much, but it makes the difference.

Ecco cos' ho ottenuto allo swap party di domenica! Sono fiera di me stessa perchè ho dato via molta più roba di quanta ne ho presa. Non sono del tutto convinta da maglione e gonna che sono troppo seri, ma li ho presi con la prospettiva di un lavoro in cui debba vestirmi in un certo modo. Sapeste le cose che tengo con questa idea e che non metto mai XD

That's what I got from at Sunday's swap party! I am proud of myself because I gave away a lot more stuff than what I've taken. I'm not entirely convinced by the sweater and skirt that are too serious, but I took them with the idea of a future job where I should dress in a certain way. If keep a lot of piece of clothing I never wear with this idea XD

Approfittando di qualche ora libera ho fatto un po'di accessori. Quello con la chiave è destinato al giveaway, spero vi piaccia! Anche se non si nota del tutto la chiave è turchese.

Taking advantage of a few free hours I made some accessories. The one with the key is for the giveaway, I hope you like it! Even if it doesn't seem from the photo, the key's colour is turquoise.

Ho comprato della resina (divisa in resina liquida e nel catalizzatore che la fa diventare solida) per riprendere a fare oggettini tipo fimo senza contaminare il forno con particelle cancerogene. Però anche sulla resina c'è scritto che è velenosissima e di non toccarla a mani nude. Suppongo di dover usare i guanti. Qualcuno ha qualche dritta per una principiante?

I bought resin (divided into liquid resin and the catalyst that makes it hard) to restart to make stuff like I did with fimo without contaminating the oven with carcinogenic particles. But also on the resin's tag it's written it is poisonous and to not touch it with bare hands. I guess I have to wear gloves. Does anyone have any tips for a beginner?

Tempo fa ho comprato questa camicia attratta dal taglio estivo e vagamente etnico. Sul momento ho totalmente ignorato il fatto che lasciasse scoperta mezza panza. Riguardando le foto però non mi è piaciuto molto come mi stava.
Nel frattempo sono invecchiata e ormai se lascio la pancia all'aria rischio di stare male, per cui ho deciso di aggiungere un triangolo di stoffa (preso da una gonna troppo lunga) sul davanti. Non so perchè, ma sento che userò questa camicia moooolto di più XD

Some time ago I bought this shirt drawn by it's summer and vaguely ethnic vibe. At first I totally ignored the fact that it left out half belly. But looking at the photos I didn't really like how it looked.
In the meantime I've aged and now if I leave the belly out I risk of becoming sick, so I decided to add a triangle of cloth (cut from a too long skirt ) on the front. I do not know why, but I feel that I will use this shirt soooo more XD

Sabato sono andata in fiera di Sinigallia (l'unico mercato dove si vende moda "alternativa" di Milano) in cerca di vestiti usati. Cercavo un vestito bianco estivo, ma come al solito ho preso tutt'altro XD Stavo frugando in una bancarella "tutto a 1€" e il proprietario ha detto che se avessi preso 5 cose me le avrebbe fatte pagare 4€. Ovviamente ne ho approfittato e il signore mi ha anche regalato un orsetto rosa!!!
Ho dovuto frugare un sacco fra vestiti orrendi e perfino macchiati o bucati, ma sono molto contenta dei miei acquisti! 3 su 4 sono estivi, uffa, io avrei voglia di mettermi tutto! Già immagino il mio gilet pacchiano su di un vestitino tinta unita *_*
Il vestito a righe è da sistemare perchè è troppo largo e i pantaloni rosa sono troppo lunghi. Vi farò vedere come li aggiusto.
Adesso la devo assolutamente smettere di fare compere perchè mi sta esplodendo l'armadio.
Però vorrei ancora:
- un vestito estivo bianco pizzettoso
- ballerine beige (magari in versione birkenstrok) che stiano bene sia con il mori sia con l'etnico
- leggings rosa

Saturday I went to the Sinigallia open air market, the only one that sells alternative fashion in Milan. I was looking for used clothes. I wanted a white summer dress, but as usual I didn't bought anything I was planning to buy XD I was rummaging in a stall "all at 1 €" and the owner said that if I got 5 things he'll make me pay only 4 €. Obviously I took the opportunity and the kind man also gave me a pink teddy bear!!!
I had to dig a lot between awful and even stained or torn clothes, but I'm very happy with my purchases! 3 of 4 are summer clothes, oof, I'd like to wear everything! I already imagine my gaudy vest on a plain dress *_*
The striped dress has to be fixed because it is too large and the pink pants are too long. I'll show you the results.
Now I really have to stop shopping because my wardrobe is exploding.
But I would like to buy these more things:
- A white lacey summer dress
- Beige flats (maybe in birkenstrok version) that fit with both mori and ethnic
- Pink leggings
I hope I can find something on Sunday's swap XD

Liar Lily + versatile blogger

Ieri ho preso il primo numero di un nuovo manga, Liar Lily. Il disegno non mi convinceva del tutto, ma in realtà si adatta bene al tono della vicenda (anche se c'è spazio per migliorare) e ho trovato la storia molto carina e divertente. Continuerò a comprarlo :D
Ecco la trama:

Hinata Saotome viene improvvisamente invitata a uscire da En Shinohara, un ragazzo bellissimo del suo stesso anno. Quello che non sa, però, è che il suo hobby è travestirsi da donna! En ha sempre odiato gli uomini, e quando vede il proprio riflesso, prende a pugni la superficie riflettente, qualunque essa sia (vetri, specchi ...). Per combattere questo odio, si veste come una ragazza. Hinata decide di uscire con lui nonostante il suo strano hobby.

Yesterday I took the first issue of a new manga, Liar Lily. The draving didn't convince me at first, but actually fit well the narration (although there is room for improvement) and I think that the story is very cute and funny. I will continue to buy it :D
Here's the plot (from Mangafox):

Hinata Saotome is suddenly asked out by En Shinohara, a gorgeous boy in her grade. What she doesn’t know, though, is that his hobby is cross-dressing! En has always hated men, and whenever he sees his own reflection, he punches out whatever is doing the reflecting (windows, mirrors…). To combat this hatred, he dresses up as a girl. Hinata decides to go out with him anyway, despite his weird hobby.

La mia famiglia giapponese mi ha spedito delle altre caramelle (identiche alle ultime che mi aveva mandato e che non ho ancora fatto in tempo a mangiare XD). Non essendo una patita dei dolci, però, sono entusiasta soprattutto della scatola con il coniglietto.

My Japanese hostfamily sent me more candies (identical to the last, that I hadn't time to eat yet XD). Not being an sweet tooth, more than for the candies, I'm excited about the box with the bunny.

Nel frattempo, avendo finito i biscotti che mi avevano mandato un po'di tempo fa, ho usato la scatola per mettere in ordine gli accessori che uso di più, seguendo il buon esempio di Donkuri :D

Meanwhile, having finished the cookies that they sent some time ago, I used the box to put in order the accessories I use most, following the good example of Donkuri :D

Collarino steampunk/Steampunk chocker

Era un po'che mi si chiedeva un tutorial steampunk. Purtroppo non ci siamo ancora perchè l'unica difficoltà di questo lavoretto sta nell'avere i pezzi, ma spero che comunque sia d'ispirazione a qualcuno.
Visto che ad halloween mi si era rotto un vecchio orologio e che alla mia giacca di finta pelle marrone si sono rotti gli occhielli che sorreggevano la cinghietta sulla manica, ho deciso di riciclare entrambi i pezzi per creare un collarino steampunk. Ho dipinto con il mio smalto della Odille due chiavette da diario segreto per intonarle alla fibbia e agli ingranaggi, dopodichè ho unito tutti i pezzi con il fil d'ottone.

It was some time that I was asked a steampunk tutorial. Unfortunately this post isn't a tutorial yet because the only difficulty of this craft lies in having the pieces, but I hope it still can be an inspiration to someone.
On halloween I had broke an old watch and that my brown fake leather jacket broke the loops that held the strap on the sleeve, so I decided to recycle both pieces to create a steampunk chocker. I painted with my Odille polish two secret diary keys for a better match with the buckle and gears, then I linked all the pieces together with brass wire.

Nuovi regali di compleanno/Other birthday presents

Continuo a ricevere regali di compleanno perchè, presa dalla tesi, non sono riuscita a vedere molta gente. Poi c'erano regali che ci hanno messo un po'di tempo ad arrivare come gli occhiali da sole E da vista (ho perso un'altra diottria, sigh) che mi hanno regalato i miei genitori!
Sono Polo Ralph Lauren (erano quelli che costavano meno O_O).
Ho sempre dei problemi a scegliere gli occhiali da sole perchè ho la testa piccola e la faccia lunga e sottile, così tutti gli occhiali da sole moderni su di me sono enormi in stile insetto. In più odio gli occhiali da sole in stile sportivo perchè uccidono qualunque tentativo di vestirsi in maniera carina.

I still get birthday presents because, being busy with my thesis, I couldn't see many people. Plus there were gifts that we have put a bit of time to arrive as the sunglasses and eyeglasses (I lost another diopter, sigh) from my parents!
They're Polo Ralph Lauren (they were the pair that costed less O_O).
I have trouble choosing sunglasses because I have a small head and a long and thin face, so all modern sunglasses on me look huge insect style. Plus I hate sports style sunglasses because they kill any attempt to dress cutely.

Da mia zia ho ricevuto un bollitore elettrico. Vedendolo a casa di amici ho scoperto quanto sia pratico sia per il the sia per gli instant noodles!

I recieved from my aunt an electric kettle. As some friends have it I discovered it's convenience for both making tea and instant noodles!

Dalla mia amica Moon ho ricevuto Nightfall in Middle-Earth, il mio album preferito dei Blind Guardian, che sono una delle mie bande metal preferite in assoluto (può darsi anche che quest'estate li veda *_*). Sì, sono decisamente per il power metal XD

Premessa: penso che s.Valentino sia una lurida festa commerciale del tutto priva di significati profondi. Lo festeggio sempre (a patto di avere un fidanzato consenziente) perchè adoro le feste, specie se comportano ricevere regali e abbuffarsi XD
Ho festeggiato s.Valentino con la Pelosa Metà ieri sera per motivi logistici. Ci siamo presi il sushi d'asporto di Poporoya (che non mi stancherò mai di ripetere che è uno dei migliori ristoranti giapponesi di Milano, nonchè il primo) e ce lo siamo mangiati davanti a Scrubs (mi sono appassionata, quindi sto costringendo il povero fidanzato a guardare tutte e 9 le serie di fila). Dopodichè abbiamo attaccato il mio mistico tiramisù che era venuto particolarmente bene e gli ho dato il mio regalo. Noi festeggiamo alla giapponese: io gli dò il regalo (quello tradizionale è il cioccolato, ma ci stiamo allargando) il 14 febbraio, lui mi dà il suo il 14 marzo.
Voi lo festeggiate? Se sì, come?

Premise: I think that Saint Valentine is a celebration created only to extort more money from people and that is totally devoid of deeper meaning. I always celebrate it (provided a consenting boyfriend) because I love the celebrations, especially if they involve receiving gifts and stuff themselves XD
I celebrated Saint Valentine with the Hairy Half last night for logistical reasons. We took the take-away sushi at Poporoya (which I never tire of repeating is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Milan, as well as the first) and we ate it watching Scrubs (I am addicted, so I'm forcing the poor boyfriend to watch all the series in a row). Then we attacked my delicious tiramisù who was particularly good and I gave him my gift. We use to celebrate st.Valentine in the Japanese way: I give him my gift (the traditional one is chocolate, but we are expanding our range) on February 14th, he gives me his on March 14th.
Do you celebrate? How?

Ieri sera ho visto il film Cappuccetto rosso sangue. L'idea è buona ovvero è la storia di Cappuccetto Rosso in chiave horror con sfumature gialle: chi degli abitanti del villaggio è il sanguinario lupo mannaro che terrorizza la popolazione? Ma lo svolgimento è talmente banale e trash da risultare divertente. Perfino i costumi e il materiale di scena sono a tratti ridicoli: gente costantemente a maniche corte nella neve, grossi elefanti metallici usati come strumento di tortura in un'ambientazione medieval-francese-nordica...si salva giusto qualche inquadratura particolarmente carina. Spero che il libro sia meglio, ma, visti i presupposti, non ho intenzione di provare.

Yesterday evening I watched the film Red Riding Hood. The idea is a good one, Red Riding Hood in an horror version with some mistery hints: who of the paesans is the bloodthirst werewolf who terrify the population? But the execution is so dull and trash to became funny. Even the costumes and the scene objects are sometimes ridiculus: people who always wear half sleeves in the snow, an iron elefant used as a torture instrument in a medieval-french-nordic setting...only a pair of shots aren't bad. I hope the book is better, but after watching this I don't really want to hazard spending my time on it.

Ho prodotto l'ennesimo accessorio floreale. E visto che la mia amica parrucchiera mi ha regalato un po'di becchi d'oca (grazie Ade *_*) vedrete un sacco di altri ibridi spilla/cosa per capelli. Magari non solo vegetali XD Sarebbe il caso però che tornassi a fare anche lavori più grandi.

Su internet si stanno diffondendo voci sulla graduale scomparsa di due mode giapponesi di gran successo: il gyaru, che è una delle più famose e durature mode giapponesi, e il mori, che negli ultimi anni ha avuto un'importanza notevole.
Quali sarebbero le prove di questo declino?

Per brevità (e per chi non capisce bene l'inglese) faccio un breve riassunto:nel 2011 il Tokyo Fashion week ha escluso i marchi gyaru più popolari e anche la Tokyo Girls Collection ha eliminato gli elementi gyaru più eccessivi. Pare che la motivazione sia un generale declino del gyaru, che gli articoli imputano al diffondersi a Shibuya dei fast food della moda come H&M, Forever 21, Zara e Bershka, che costano moooolto meno delle marche gyaru, cosa che conta parecchio in un periodo di crisi economica.
In più la moda di Shibuya è sempre più simile a quella di Harajuku. Inoltre l'attitudine ribelle delle gyaru delle origini sembra essere praticamente scomparsa. Shibuya poi ha perso la sua esclusività perchè le marche gyaru hanno aperto succursali altrove e iniziato a vendere online.
Per quanto riguarda il mori non ho fonti dirette, ma pare che molte riviste dedicate a questo stile abbiano chiuso i battenti e sulla rete si mormora che questo avviene perchè la moda è in declino.
Quanto c'è di vero in queste voci? Mah.
Certo il gyaru è molto diverso da quello degli anni 80-90, ma è anche vero che è una moda "veloce", con cambiamenti di stile continui. L'attuale tendenza retrò, sweet, bon ton e con la pelle chiara potrebbe essere solo una nuova fase. Secondo me poi l'espansione delle marche con nuove succursali e vendita online è un guadagno per il gyaru piuttosto che una perdita. Di sicuro, comunque, all'estero esistono comunità gyaru grandi e influenti, per cui di morte non si può parlare.
Per quanto riguarda il mori, penso che sia andata come per lo stile oji (ve lo ricordate?). Lo stile oji ha influenzato pesantemente la moda dell' inverno 2010, ma la sua nascita è coincisa con un ritorno del retrò e del preppy e con un'espansione del mori, tutti stili simili. Adesso di oji non si parla più. Secondo me piuttosto che essere scomparso è stato inglobato in una tendenza più globale: ancora adesso vedo sui giornali elementi tipicamente oji (bretelle, scarpe da uomo, cappelli da uomo, cravattini, ecc.), magari un po'più all'acqua di rose o chiamati con un altro nome.
Magari il mori più estremo, quello da migliaia di sovrapposizioni di straccetti bianchi, è in declino, possibile, ma moltissimo della sensibilità mori è passato nella moda globale, e sto pensando a tendenze arrivate anche da noi: retrò, stampe e accessori con animali della foresta (cervi, gufi, scoiattoli...), pelliccia, orologi da tasca...
Secondo me piuttosto che una sconfitta questa è una vittoria.

For brevity I'll do a quick recap: in 2011 the Tokyo Fashion Week has excluded most popular gyaru brands and also the Tokyo Girls Collection eliminated the most extreme elements of gyaru. It seems that the motivation is a general decline of gyaru, that the articles blame on the spread in Shibuya of fast fashion stores like H&M, Forever 21, Zara and Bershka, that cost considerably less than gyaru brands, that matters a lot in a period of economic crisis. In addition, Shibuya's fashion is more and more similar to Harajuku's. Plus, Shibuya lost its exclusivity because gyaru brands opened branches elsewhere and started selling online.

The current retro, sweet, bon ton and fair skin trends may just be a new phase. In my opinion, the expansion of the brands with new branches and online selling is a gain for gyaru rather than a loss. A a matter of fact there are large and influential foreign gyaru communities, so we certainly can not speak about a death of this style.As for mori, I think it's destiny is similar to the one of the oji style (you remember it?). Oji style heavily influenced 2010's winter fashion, but his birth coincided with the return of retro and preppy and expansion of the mori, that are all similar styles. Now we no longer speak of oji. In my opinion, rather than being dead it has been incorporated into a more global trend: even now I see in the newspapers typical oji elements (braces, men's shoes, men's hats, ties, etc..), Maybe a little diluited or called by another name.Perhaps the most extreme mori, the one with thousand of layers of ragged lace, is in decline, but much of mori sensitibility passed into global fashion trends, and I'm also thinking of our countries: retro, forest animals prints and accessories (deer, owls, squirrels ...), fur, pocket watches ...In my opinion this is a victory rather than a defeat .

Ieri è successo l'ennesimo fattaccio sfigato ed esasperante riguardante la mia tesi: sono andata a colloquio dal mio relatore e lui ha detto che non mi aspettava (l'avevo avvertito via mail e mi aveva risposto!) e non mi aveva nemmeno guardato la tesi!!! Mi sono fatta 2 ore avanti e indietro per niente! L'avrei ucciso...

Yesterday it happened another infuriating and unfortunate event about my thesis: I went to have a talk with my professor and he said that he wasn't expecting me (I had told him via email and he replied!) and he hadn't even looked at my thesis! Dark mori

Ho scoperto che esiste un sottogenere dark del mori, che punta, piuttosto che ad un look da ragazza dei boschi, ad un effetto "strega dei boschi". E non sto parlando del Dolly, che pure è abbastanza vicino al mori e ha elementi più macabri, è proprio un sottogenere del mori. Onestamente non mi è chiaro chi l'abbia creato o abbia messo giù per primo la definizione e l'elenco delle caratteristiche dello stile. Io personalmente li ho trovati su Fawn & Doll (un blog mori molto carino), che a sua volta rimanda a Strega's Forest (un tumblr dedicato a questo stile), che rimanda a Shady Oaks.
Di seguito trovate definizione e liste. Come al solito io segno con una X i tratti a cui corrispondo. In sintesi mi piacciono molti elementi visivi, ma come lifestyle somiglio di più ad una mori normale (a parte che certi punti sono assurdi...).

Dark forest mori: se una normale mori girl è una pecora, la ragazza dark forest mori è il lupo. Lei e il romantico goth hanno molti interessi in comune, per loro la metafisica e il macabro sono un aspetto bellissimo e affascinante della natura come la vita e la luce. Piuttosto che lasciarsi buttare giù di corda dall'idea del "memento mori", le permettono di far loro apprezzare la vita nel rispetto della morte. L'humor riguardo ad entrambi per loro è fondamentale. Trovano carini e affascinanti i classici motivi gotici come pipistrelli, ragni, ragnatele e croci. La black forest indossa un sacco di nero, rosso sangue, blu scuro e grigio. Sarebbe completamente mimetizzata nella notte. Alle black forest piace anche un trucco 'delle origini' o 'primitivo', per mancanza di una parola migliore, per cui si ispirano all'Egitto, a varie tribù africane, alla pittura da corpo dei guerrieri celti, dei nativi americani e ad altri look antichi o 'tribali' . La festa messicana El Dia De Los Muertos le attira e affascina moltissimo, e i loro fiori preferiti dovrebbero includere calendule, girasoli e rose.

I discovered that there is a dark subgenre of mori, aiming, rather than to a girl of the woods look, to a "witch of the woods" one. And I'm not speaking of Dolly kei, which is also close to mori and has more macabre elements, it is a real mori subgenre. Honestly I didn't understand who have created it or have written first a definition and a list of characteristics of this style. I found them on Fawn &Doll (a very nice mori blog), which refers to Strega's Forest (a dedicated tumblr), which refers to ShadyOaks .
Below there is the definition and the lists. As usual I mark with an X the points that correspond to my style.

black forest mori: if a mori girl is a sheep, the black forest girl is the wolf. She and the romantic goth have many interests in common, the metaphysical and the macabre are as fascinating and beautiful a facet of nature as life and light. Rather than letting the “memento mori” idea get them down in the dumps, they allow it to let them appreciate living while respecting death. Humor about both is essential to them and the classic gothic motifs like bats, spiders, spiderwebs and crosses are cute and charming to them. The black forest girl wears lots of black, dark blue, blood red and gray. She would be completely camouflaged in the night. Black Forest girls also enjoy “primal” and “primitive” looking makeup, for lack of a better word. Their faces are inspired by Egypt, various African tribes, Celtic warrior paint, Native American and other ‘tribal’ or ancient looks. The Mexican holiday El Dia De Los Muertos also draws a large amount of their attention and fascination, and as such their favorite flowers would include marigolds and sunflowers and roses.

La quadrilogia (per ora) dei Guardiani della notte, composta da I guardiani della notte, I guardiani del giorno, I guardiani del crepuscolo e Gli ultimi guardiani è una serie fantasy scritta da Sergej Luk'janenko, un autore russo. Il primo libro in Russia è stato pubblicato nel 1998, l'ultimo nel 2006, ma in Italia è appena uscito.
I romanzi sono editi dalla Mondadori. Se volete risparmiare vi raccomando il volumone che raccoglie i primi tre.
Ho letto tutti e quattro i libri di seguito. Secondo me è la modalità di lettura migliore perchè permette di cogliere i particolari: Luk'janenko non butta mai lì un colpo di scena dal nulla, c'è sempre almeno un minimo indizio. Però questo vuole anche dire che non riesco a confrontare il livello dei vari romanzi perchè li ho percepiti come un tutto unico, cosa che contraddittoriamente è causata anche dalla frammentarietà dei singoli romanzi.
La trama ruota attorno alla premessa che fra noi si nascondano umani dotati di poteri soprannaturali, che derivano dalla loro capacità di accedere ad un altro strato della realtà, il Crepuscolo. Questi "altri" sono divisi in Altri della Luce e Altri delle Tenebre, e ogni schieramento ha una Guardia che si premura che sia rispettato il patto che garantisce l'equilibrio fra le due parti. All'inizio parte come una storia semplice, quasi banale, ma man mano emergono nuovi livelli di lettura e si scoprono intrighi e veri scopi delle varie fazioni, fino a creare un arazzo intricato.
Visto che la serie vede continui scontri fra Bene e Male ci sono riferimenti religiosi (che non mancano di affascinarmi), ma fortunatamente l'autore evita di farsi prendere la mano con i trip mistici.
Per la maggior parte, la storia è filtrata attraverso il punto di vista di quello che inizialmente è un giovane e insignificante membro della guardia della Luce, Anton. La "telecamera" non coincide perfettamente con i suoi occhi, è più alle sue spalle.
Il protagonista non è particolarmente affascinante, ma proprio il suo essere "uno qualunque" permette di focalizzare l'attenzione sul paranormale e sui suoi schemi. I personaggi sono molto ben studiati e la maggior parte hanno una psicologia complessa e sono in grado di evolevere.
Durante i quattro libri passano parecchi anni, ma ogni libro è suddiviso in racconti che si svolgono lungo un tempo limitato e circoscrivono momenti decisivi per la trama. Fra l'uno e l'altro può passare molto tempo e alcuni racconti sono narrati dal punto di vista di personaggi secondari, come pure vari capitoletti introduttivi. Questi secondo me risultano un po'fastidiosi e per la maggior parte inutili. Avrei eliminato del tutto la storia narrata dal punto di vista della strega (ma non vi anticipo niente).
L'ambientazione russa mi ha conquistato, risveglia la mia curiosità antropologica con scorci di un mondo piuttosto diverso da quello a cui sono abituata (ma berranno davvero così tanto i russi?). Ciò però comporta un difetto: ogni tanto le motivazioni dei personaggi non sono del tutto chiare e in quel caso ci si chiede se il problema sia dell'autore, della traduzione, di incomunicabilità fra schemi mentali italiani e russi o semplicemente fra schemi mentali di un comune essere umano e di un Altro. Per fortuna non succede spesso.
Qualche piccola riserva rimane sul finale dell'ultimo libro, che però è spettacolare a sufficienza XD
In definitiva consiglio caldamente tutta la serie! A me è piaciuta da matti!!!
A quanto pare in Russia è diventata un fenomeno, tanto che dal primo racconto del libro hanno tratto un film di successo, I guardiani della notte. Del film non so niente, la Pelosa Metà l'aveva intravisto e gli era parso tremendo. Io vorrei vederlo, in quel caso state sicuri che lo recensirò.

The Night Watch series is a fantasy series written by Russian writer Sergej Luk'janenko and composed by Night Watch, Day Watch, Twilight Watch and Final Watch.

The first book was published in Russia in 1998, the last in 2006.
The plot revolves around this premise: among us humans hide people with supernatural powers, which derive from their ability to access another layer of reality, the Twilight. These "others" are divided into Light and Darkness, and each side has a Guard who controls that the pact that ensures a balance between the two parties is respected.For the most part the story is filtered through the perspective of Anton, who initially is a young and insignificant member of the Night Watch (the guard of the Light side). The "camera" does not coincide perfectly with the Anton's eyes, but is more behind him.During the four books several years pass, but each book is divided into stories that take place along a limited time, during the decisive moments of the plot. Between a story and the other there can be a huge time difference and some stories take on the perspective of secondary characters. The point of view of a secondary character is assumed also in some introductive chapters. These jumps between different points of view in my opinion are a bit annoying and mostly useless. I would have cancelled the story told from the point of view of the witch (but I won't spoiler anything).I have read all four books one after another. According to me is the better way to enjoy them because it allows to notice all the little recurring details. Luk'janenko never throws a twist out of nowhere, there's always at least some clue. But reading all the books together also means that I can't compare the level of the four novels because I perceived them as a whole, which paradoxically is also helped by the fragmented nature of the stories.I liked this series like crazy! It starts as a simple story, almost trivial, but slowly new levels of reading emerge together with the intrigues and real aims of the various factions, to create an intricate tapestry. The protagonist is not particularly interestinge, but his quality of being "common" allows you to focus on the paranormal and its patterns. The characters are very well studied and most have a not indifferent psychological introspection and evolution.Sincein the series the fights between Good and Evil are central, there are are religious references (which always fascinate me), but fortunately the author avoids to get carried away with mystical trips.The Russian setting has won me over with its scenes of "real life" that awaken my anthropological curiosity with glimpses of a world quite different from the one I'm used to (do russian people really drink so much?). This, however, involves a defect: sometimes the characters' motivations are not entirely clear, and in that case, one wonders if the problem is the author or the translation, or lack of communication between talians and Russians thought patterns, or between thought patterns of a ordinary human being and an Other. Fortunately it does not happen often.A few small reserves remains on the end of the last book, but it is spectacular enough XDTo sum up my advice is to try this series!

In Russia it became a cult, something so big that the the first story of the novel was made into a successful film, Night Watch. I don't know anything about the film, the Hairy Half watched a part of it and said it was crappy, but I'd like to watch it and in that case a review will follow.

Ultimamente mi è venuta voglia di provare uno stile "russeggiante" con colori forti (preferibilmente motivi floreali) su sfondo scuro. Lately I felt like trying a "russian" style with bright colors (preferably floral) on a dark background. This is the maximum that I could do with what I had at home (note the vaguely balalaika shaped pin). Obviously I had to change shoes before going out XD

Venerdì la mia amica Violinchan mi ha rifatto l'hennè!! Sono molto contenta, ma si vede un po' la megaricrescita (dopo anni di meches ho deciso di farmi ricrescere i capelli al naturale sotto uno strato uniformante di hennè). La mia amica parrucchiera mi sgriderà, martedì vado da lei a tagliarmi i capelli.

Violinchan, che se non si capisse dal nome è una divinità della musica, mi ha anche insegnato tre accordi di chitarra *_* Suonare è sempre stato un mio sogno, ma tutti mi dicevano che ero troppo incapace. Ora ho ripreso le speranze. Medito quasi di comprarmi una chitarra per continuare a fare esercizio.

I am very happy, but if you look closely, under the colour you can see the roots (after years of highlights I decided to let my hair grow with their original colour under a leveling layer of henna). Io avevo portato da Violinchan l'hennè che mi hanno portato i miei dall'India, quella per fare i disegni sulle mani durante le occasioni importanti. Se la si lascia abbastanza, il disegno resta per un sacco di tempo. Questi sono i "tatuaggi" che ho fatto a Violinchan, con ancora l'hennè attaccata.

I had brought at Violinchan's the hennamy parents bought me in India, the one to draw on hands during important occasions. If you leave it enough, the drawing remains for a long time. These are the "tattoos" that I did for Violinchan with the henna still attached.

Io invece mi sono fatta una balena e una rosa dei venti (definita "la cacca della balena" da un mio amico XD). Sotto vedete il disegno permanente una volta tolta la pasta di hennè.

I drew on my arm a whale and a wind star (a friend of mine called it "the poop of the whale"). In the lower part you can see the permanent drawing once the henna paste is removed.

Attenzione quando si inceppano le macchinette dell'ATM (Milano)

Un controllore mi ha mostrato che a volte le macchinette dell' ATM (Azienda Trasporti Milanesi) si inceppano perchè dei ladri attaccano della gomma da masticare sulla fessura indicata in foto dalla freccia, di modo che le banconote rimangono incastrate dentro e loro dopo passano a recuperarle. Controllate sempre che la vostra macchinetta abbia la fessura libera e se non lo è sbloccatela. Passate la voce per rovinare il gioco a questi stronzi.

Gamberi alla bahiana/Bahia style prawns

Ho assaggiato i gamberi alla bahiana da un'amica brasiliana di mia madre quasi un anno fa e mi sono piaciuti tantissimo. L'amica di recente mi ha passato la ricetta e gentilmente mi ha concesso di pubblicarla qui sul blog :D

Le foto sono quelle della mia preparazione, che ha delle pecche: andrebbero usati i gamberoni interi e il riso pilaf, mentre io ho usato gamberetti surgelati (che infatti sono venuti troppo fibrosi) e il riso normale che avevo in casa, in più ho fatto troppo sugo per non avanzare cocco.

Per 6 porzioni:
1kg di gamberi
sale, peperoncino, succo di limone.
4 cucchiai di olio
1 tazza da tè di passata di pomodoro
1 tazza da tè di passata di latte di cocco
150 ml di panna

I tried Bahia style prawns cooked by a Brazilian friend of my mother almost a year ago and I liked them a lot. This friend recently handed me the recipe and graciously allowed me to publish it here on the blog: D
The pictures are those of my preparation, which has some flaws: you should use whole prawns and pilaf rice, and I used frozen shrimp (which in fact became too fibrous) and the rice I had at home, plus I did too much sauce for not have coconut leftovers.

For 6 servings:
 1kg of prawns
 salt, pepper, lemon juice.
 4 tablespoons of oil
 1 tea cup of tomato sauce
 1 tea cup of pureed coconut milk
 150 ml of cream

Pulire i gamberi e lasciarli per 1/2 ora a insaporire con succo di limone, sale e peperoncino.Scaldare l'olio e soffriggere velocemente i gamberi.

Clean the prawns and leave for 1/2 hour to season with lemon juice, salt and chili pepper. Heat the oil and fry the prawns quickly.

Aggiungere la passata di pomodoro e cuocere per 10 minuti.

Add the tomato sauce and cook for 10 minutes.

Aggiungere il latte di cocco e far bollire per 3 minuti.

Add the coconut milk and boil for 3 minutes.

Aggiungere la panna, riscaldare senza raggiungere l'ebollizione.

Add the cream and heat without boiling.

Servire con riso bianco pilaf.

Serve with white pilaf rice.

Secondo me gamberi e cocco è un accostamento vincente, sono buonissimi! Se provate a cucinarli fatemi sapere se vi sono piaciuti!

Qui a Milano nevica da ieri pomeriggio. E' un po'una scocciatura per gli spostamenti, ma io spero che si accumuli per giocare a palle di neve e bere la cioccolata calda guardando i fiocchi vorticare dalla finestra. In giornate come questa ci vorrebbe il caminetto.

Ho messo il vestito scozzese che mi ha regalato la mia amica Vchan. Potrebbe essere anche molto elegante, ma al momento mi mancano le occasioni (diciamo ultimamente il top della mia vita sociale è strafogarmi di patatine giocando al gdr di warhammer 40000), così ho tentato di abbinarlo "al ribasso" in versione casual-mori. Le prime scarpe facevano più mori, ma gli stivali mi pareva ci stessero meglio, così alla fine ho scelto quelli.

I wore the plaid dress my friend Vchan gave me. It can be really elegant, but as at the moment I don't really have occasions fo wearing elegant clothes (lately my average night out is playing warhammer 40000 rpg stuffing myself with junk food), so I tried to coordinate it in a casual-mori way. The first shoes were more mori, but I felt the boots looked better with it, so I choose them.

Ok, con questi acquisti passo definitivamente da "abbastanza moderata" a "compere eccessive" XD Però sono proprio contenta. Ho preso tutto da H&M in saldo: la bombetta è costata 5€, la gonna 10€ e i fiori 1€ ciascuno. Mi sono dimenticata di controllare i prezzi originali, tranne quello della gonna che era 25€.
All'inizio pensavo di modificare la bombetta in qualche modo, ma in linea di massima ci ho rinunciato per paura di rovinarla, in fin dei conti non è niente male nemmeno così. Invece credo che uno degli innumerevoli fiori bianchi che possiedo subirà il mio trattamento speciale.
Ammetto che sull'acquisto della gonna hanno pesato parecchio le gonne con i bottoni sul davanti che continuo a vedere sulle riviste giapponesi.

Ok, with these purchases I defintely pass from "fairly moderate" to "excessive shopping" XD But I'm really happy. I took everything at H&M on sale: the bowler has costed 5€, the skirt 10€ and the flowers 1€ each. I forgot to check the original prices, except the one of the skirt that was 25€.
At first I thought to alterate the bowler in some way, but I gave up for fear of damaging it, after all like this it looks good enough. Instead I believe that one of the numerous white flowers I own will undergo my special treatment.
I admit that on the purchase of the skirt a lot of influence came from the skirts with buttons on the front I keep seeing on Japanese magazines.

Stanno tornando le gonnellone di jeans. Io le odio, specie lunghe. Sono troppo rigide quindi rendono la parte di sotto del corpo un monolite. Però in finto jeans leggero potrebbero andare.

In these outfits I already feel a springish wind. The blue combined with white and the stripes are hints of nautical style and the bright colors give a taste of sunshine.

There's a comeback of longer jeans skirts. I dont like them, in particular the long ones. They're too stiff, so they make your lower body look like a monolith. But a version made of thin fake jeans could look ok.

Vi ricordate la maglietta con l'orsetto che mi ha regalato la Pelosa Metà? Visto che sono vecchia e ho le scalmane non metto quasi mai magliette a maniche lunghe, così ho deciso di modificarla. Do you remember the T-shirt with a teddy bear the Hairy Half bought me ? Since I almost never wear long-sleeved shirts as I feel they're too hot, I decided to alterate it. I cut off the sleeves and I edged them with black lace, pulling a wire so that they were more "balloon shaped" (it is important to first calculate the width of the contract biceps to avoid them from being too tight).

Ma che fare delle maniche tagliate? Mi dispiaceva buttarle, così le ho bordate con la lana a pon pon (ma si possono orlare con qualcunque cosa: pizzo, nastro...) e le ho tenute per usarle come scaldabraccia, finte calze o topper per stivali!

But what to do with the cut off sleeves? I didn't want to trow them away, so I edged them with pom pom yarn (but you can do the kind of edge you prefer: lace, ribbon...) and I decided to use them as armwarmers, fake socks and boot toppers!

Da brava nerd, pigrona e amante del junk food adoro i tagliolini in brodo asiatici liofilizzati. La versione più famosa è quella con il bicchiere, che è anche più pratica da mangiare in giro (se si ha il distributore d'acqua calda al lavoro è fatta!), ma io di solito li mangio a casa e quindi li compro in bustina, che sono anche più economici.

Fra tutte le marche di instant ramen la mia preferita è la 出前一丁, che dovrebbe leggersi demaeicchō (che significa all'incirca "servizio di consegna di una porzione di cibo" -ok, lo so, devo ripassare il giapponese). Mi è stata molto raccomandata anche dal mio prof di giapponese, ma sospetto un certo nazionalismo XD
Costa leggermente più di altre (io credo di pagarle 50 cent alla busta nel mio supermercato orientale preferito), ma mi piace anche molto di più, in particolare i gusti frutti di mare e gamberi.

As I'm a nerd, lazy and a junk food lover, I'm quite fond of Asian instant noodles. The most famous version is the one with the cup, which is also more practical to eat around (if you have the hot water dispenser at work they're quite useful!), but as I usually eat them at home I buy them in the packet version, which is cheaper.
Of all the brands of instant ramen my favorite is 出前一丁, which I think is pronounced demaeicchō (which roughly means "delivery service of a portion of food" -ok, I know, I have to brush up my Japanese). It was also highly recommended by my Japanese teacher, but I suspect a certain nationalism XD
Itosts slightly more than others (I think I pay it 50 cents in my favorite Asian supermarket), but I also like it more than the others, especially the seafood and shrimp flavors.

Di recente ho assaggiato anche un instant noodles ai gamberi di marca 当地, sempre giapponese,che si pronuncia "dōchi", e significa qualcosa come "questo posto". Era buonissima, sapeva davvero di gambero, il che non è per niente scontato quando si parla di questi cibi zeppi di deliziosi aromi artificiali!

Recently I also tried shrimp instant noodles of another japanese brand, 当地, that is pronounced "dōchi" and means "this place". It was very good, it really was shrimp flavoured, that is not granted in a type of food full of delicious artificial flavours!

Ho fatto altri giri di saldi, con mia madre e con le mie amiche. Mi sono moderata parecchio, in tutto per ora ho speso 20,50€. Però bisogna anche dire che mia madre è stata generosa e che non ho visto (a prezzi a me accessibili) cose veramente entusiasmanti (invece è fantastica la parte dedicata al Piccolo Principe della nuova collezione di Oysho). Vorrei comprare ancora un delle bombette rosa di H&M, se non le hanno vendute tutte, ma soprattutto vorrei fare un giro fra le bancarelle dell'usato per qualche progetto di cucito.

I went sales shopping again, with my mother and with my friends. I was really moderate, as for now I spent 20.50€. But I must admit that my mother was generous and that I haven't seen (at prices accessible to me) really exciting things (instead of the part dedicated to the Little Prince of Oysho's new collection is awesome). I would buy H&M's pink bowler, if they aren't all sold, but most of all I would like to browse used clothing stalls for my sewing project.

Da Accessorize ho finalmente trovato ad un prezzo accessibile la mitica/odiosa sciarpa fatta di pon pon che è sulla mia wishlist da qualcosa come 3 anni. Per forza, a prezzo pieno costa 34€!!! Invece io l'ho presa a 10€ perchè c'erano dei maxisaldi sulle cose invernali.

At Accessorize's I finally found at an affordable price the mythical/hateful pom-poms scarf which was on my wishlist from something like 3 years. Of course I never bought it until now, at full price it costs 34€! I bought it for 10 € because there were great winter knit sales.

Da Tally Weijl ho preso questa cintura molto bucolica che avevo già addocchiato. L'ho pagata 5,50€, forse un po'tantino per essere in saldo, ma mi piaceva molto.
